So I was watching post-game quotes and heard Foote say that they're going to turn it around and that "10 games from now we're gonna be laughing and everybody is gonna forget about this." Do you have any faith that this is true?

The dedication I have to the Steelers and being an eternal optimist, I recall the 2005 season when the Steelers were 7-2 in week 10, then lost 3 in a row to put them at 7-5. The 3 losses in a row seemed to light a fire under them to get back into it, and they won out the rest of the season and ended up winning the Super Bowl.

However, the realist in me doesn't see any real fire in anyone yet that makes me think they'll have the motivation they need to get to where they need to be. For some reason, when I was watching Tomlin in his post-game interview, I got the impression that he was truly stunned at what is happening, and he just didn't sound like he knows what to do. Ben also looked truly shaken in his interview, more like someone who feels trapped and doesn't know how to get out. Maybe I'm reading into the Tomlin and Roethlisber interviews some, but they looked different to me than they usually do after a loss, and not in a good way. I know that injuries are playing a big part in a lot of this, but that doesn't make me feel any better either.

So, do you think Foote is right and that they can turn it around like they did in 2005, or will we soon be saying "there's always next year?"

In all fairness. Foote has been playing a great season so far. Unfortunately, the majority of the team hasn't. Right now, this team is 8-8 at best.

Just too many injuries now to make s run like that.
it would have been difficult enough full strength.

Yeah, I actually appreciate Foote's attitude, and as a fan I'm glad he's saying what he's saying, I just don't know that I think it will pan out that way.

Foote is sounding like Rex Ryan :eek!:

with Ike out there this team is going nowhere,, Qb's don't even have to aim, all they have to do is throw the ball up for pass interfernce

We are not gonna turn it around. We don't have the talent. We don't have the leadership. We don't have the coaching. All we have is a guy that's gonna stand at the podium and say the same crap platitudes over and over. What Tomlin needs to understand is that we as fans also have a "standard" and more importantly so do the Rooney's. They are not gonna take losing to 1 win teams over and over.

The biggest problem in my mind, our secondary. Troy breaking down physically and maybe close to the end of his career, Clark isn't getting any younger, and nobody seems to be able to stop any QB, even with 50 year old Hassleback, from passing for 20 yards on 3rd and long......

8-8 this year, if we're lucky. Draft a playmaker in the secondary next spring.......

Didn't Allen get injured on the 1st or second series and was out for the rest of the game?

This team is far from the 05 team..No leaders anywhere near what we had in 05 ..Bettis,Ward,Porter,Faneca,, .
Ike was part of '05 too,,not to mention Townsend and McFadden ,,when was the last time we had a shutdown corner,,its been many years..We always relied on constant pressure from our LB's ,which is none so far this year ..

If the team is not going to make the playoffs, I'd rather see 5-11 and much higher draft picks.

I ABSOLUTELY AGREE 100%! I said that leaving the stadium last night and my buddy was like "That's pretty extreme!" I said "We NEED a secondary and I'm willing to sacrifice a season to get one!"

Not saying that 8-8 is what I hope for, because I do agree with you, get a higher draft pick. But I think the schedule lays out so that they will be just cloe enough to the wild card, that they will give it their all, and actually win a couple games. By the time we're out of it, it will be just a couple weeks from the end, and hovering around .500.....................

Eric Reid out of LSU. Overall in the 13-16 range, more than likely. Smack dab where an 8-8 team should be drafting....... ...... :)

Yes, they will turn it around.

Starks said he's been around long enough to have pulled through worse.

Ben is playing at a high level, this season. Tomlin maintains a consistent message and focus for the team. Suisham is kicking lights-out. Mendy is back (small setback last night). Harrison is back.

I maintain this: Fix the O-Line and everything changes on offense. Fix the rush and everything changes on defense. Special teams just needs to focus.

There are not major issues, here, people. Many times, there are just a handful of plays, throughout the entire game, that are causing these losses. And correcting just a couple of those issues, most times, would turn the games around.

I understand everyone's frustration. Don't think I'm not frustrated. But the fact is the team is not effective in all three phases for 60 minutes. Once they fix that, then they start winning on the road.

I agree that secondary is a big concern (though, in my opinion, OL is a larger and more consistent one)...but I don't think you should ever sacrifice a season to get a higher draft pick, regardless of position (and particularly not a DB). Besides, I'm not so sure there is an elite player at either safety position (or CB)...maybe McDonald from USC? Still, I feel we will turn it around. Of our next four, only the Giants worry me (though no game is, as we just witnessed, a 'gimme').

I agree. It just feels like cashing in to me. I want these guys to compete to win every game, even if there's no chance they'll make the playoffs. Maybe it's just the competitor in me, but I could never purposefully lose in order to get "maybe" something better down the line, and I wouldn't like it if the Steelers did that either.
