It's not a shoulder injury. Also, they are not going to have that kind of cap room even if Roethlisberger retires.

They will get back 19 million if Ben is off the payroll before his roster bonus kicks in.

Should be able to sign a quality veteran for that kind of money.

I'm curious to know what you think Dak is going to be asking to even remotely suggest that??

Dak got over 30 million on a franchise tag this season, he's also coming off a major injury, where would the Steelers get the money to sign him?

I don't. most of the skills I posses are relatively useless in a peace time citizen. :)

The Packers let Favre go, the Patriots let Brady go, it's time that the Steelers let Ben go and move on.

I keep thinking Stafford could be the guy if we can swing the cap space.

I think we could get at least 2-3 good years out of him. Buys some time while not taking a step backwards imo.

I would want to see us get someone with more mobility than Stafford. Our current offensive line limits the effectiveness of a purely pocket passer. I think we have one of the most talented young receiving corps in the league. We need someone who has the ability to sidestep the rush and get the ball downfield to them.

I think he will be under contract to the Raiders in 2021.

He sure is, thats why they will put a foot in his ass on the way out. Ben thinks he is the Steelers. He's nothing more than a over paid wannabe CEO type.

The Green Bay front office had faith in Farve's replacement, and they were right to. Brady had turmoil with ownership and/or coach and vise versa. Ben is a one-off, no other player comparison works with him.

Ben didn't get to that point on his own, he was given the latitude (if that is what's going on).

That would be better than any option here other than Ben.

Mason can go 8-8, there's no need to sign Fitzpatrick to do the same.

I'm referring to Ben's overall impact to the Steelers franchise, beyond what he's done on the field.
