58 years old. Haven’t seen a cause yet. Only played 3 years for us, but they were pretty great years.

He was only with us a few years but I loved watching him play. What an all around great player and from all accounts, great guy. What sad news to add to an already horrible year. :(

Really shocked. Got to meet him at a card show in 1996. Only here for a few years, but a great Steeler at heart.

I'm destroyed. Greene and Lloyd were two of the players that ushered me into a real love for football. They defined Steelers football. RIP Kevin. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family. That he identified more with Pittsburgh than any other team he played for speaks volumes to me. His HOF day and the night he was honored at Heinz Field were so special. Man this sucks.

Really terrible news. Man, I loved watching him work... Just a nonstop motor. And having Lloyd on the other side? Awesome.

As others have said, 2020 has really sucked. 58 is way, way too young. RIP.

They aren't releasing COD yet, hadn't heard if he was sick. Last we heard he was helping his son train for college and looking at coaching lbs for Jets maybe

Here is what Kevin said about the Steelers:

Greene later stated that he had the "time of his life" playing for the Steelers and decided to receive his Hall of Fame ring from the team despite only playing three of his 15 years in Pittsburgh.[18] His departure from Pittsburgh was due to the salary cap and the Steelers wanting to focus on younger players; Greene, though understanding of the business decision, felt hurt from the organization but continued to hold them in high regard
