finally we are addressing the elefant in the room. as much as pouncey gets his feelings hurt. he is the dog with all bark no bite now. the only reason ben hasnt been sacked as much is because hes letting go of the ball so quick and i think he knows he has to with this o-line or he will be killed.

the only real mauler i see is dotson and hes riding the pine. i hate the ratbirds but i envy their o-line. when i see them they are downfield running and holding defender without being caught but atleast they put out effort.

so yes. the o-line is soft wether it be because of father time or whatever the case it needs to be corrected. and yes i know we have alot of issues, dropped passes, no good gameplan, playcalling bad, but atleast we should get mean and maul. make dotson a starter if healthy trade. draft dickerson the center from alabama saw him play yesterday and he was mauling. him and dotson would he a great start.

He will likely move up the boards, slated as a day 2 prospect. Before moving to Alabama he had 3 years of injury prone seasons at Fl State. That alone does not stop him from being drafted, but that history does spell concern without more research.

So lets get into Pouncey. Steelers are 10-1 with Pouncey starting at center. 0-2 without him. Ask Ben what Pouncey means to this line. Even at Pouncey's age he is easily a top 5 center in this league. The line is down 1 starting tackle, and two guards, which definitely hurts going forward. We were playing pretty damn good prior to week 11 IMO.

We do not run the ball well, because we do not run the ball. It is that simple. We do not stick with the run game. To run effectively you have to realize that you are going to have some "attrition" plays while you establish the run. The Steelers are impatient offensively.

Just like Pouncey, prior to week 11 JC30 was very quietly having a nice season. Snell, Mcfarland, and Samuels are not NFL quality starting backs and it showed while Conner was out.

There is more going on here than the offensive line being "soft".

With so many issues being posted about this offense, I haven't a clue which are real, imagined, caused by something or someone, so on and do forth. The eye test and stats indicate the symptoms are for real. I only hope that someone at some point shows that something is happening to correct. Looking for the evidence Monday against a flailing opponent that is being considered a 12pt dog in their own house. We nearly screwed the pooch against the JV Rats but there is absolutely no excuse on this game Monday. None. We need to play like our record says we should. No ifs, ands, or buts. Lets get the Div Title and then figure out what to do to prep for the post season. Onward.

I don't know what an elefant is but if we are talking about the elephant in the room, Fitchner better be in the room.

I think Pouncey is top 5 for sure.

But let's stay on topic. We are discussing @steel machine@steel machine 's wife.

With Pouncey and this coming draft it will definitely be interesting. There will be pressing needs in several positions and doubtful they go C in the first, but if one the elite is there you have to consider it. Yes the first pick is expected to contribute right away and indeed with injuries he may well do that at either C or G, but you also look (especially with Steelers history at C) for the next decade. You think you find your guy then you take him. Does not have to be the 1st, but it also can be.
No doubt in this league everyone wants the elite 1st round QB, how many are there really? What you also see is some of those elite QB's struggle and go down quickly because of a poor line. Also have seen success with a 'quality' QB with a great line, running game.

Conventional wisdom says you build from the interior outward. The Steelers front office has consistently stood by their assertion that Rudolph is their future QB, so I don't see them spending a pick on one next year. I'm not all in on them seeing what they have in MR for a season, but it might be necessary because they have so many other needs, especially along the o-line, linebackers and possibly a bruising RB. So much of what they do moving forward depends on whether or not Ben comes back and if he does, how much he has left in the tank. To me, they need to get a stud center first and draft to need afterward.

Pounced not a top 5 center? C’mon Man!
I think the line is just all in on pass blocking, they’re about the best!
Anyone here play line back in the day, thoughts?

Maybe Pouncey is a top 5 center. I don't think so, but what do I know. But whether he is or isn't, this Aint no top 5 OL. It's probably in the bottom half of the league.
