Yeah I get it, lots of injuries and we are trending downwards. As long as we have Ben we always have a chance. Who knows what happens in the playoffs, who knows who is hurt or gets covid from now until then. Maybe the teams we play lay turds, maybe the refs bail us out. This is why we watch.

2005 : “we had no chance”

2008: got stomped by Tennessee... someone took care of them for us.

I have been watching “bigger than Ben” on YouTube and I got pretty pumped up. If we can get hot and healthy before the playoffs you never know. I don’t care what anyone says this season has already been special. We are about to beat the sack record next week.

maybe we lose to the Bills or maybe we surprise everyone. Maybe we win the division, or end up losing it.

bottom line is SEASON AINT OVER. It’s not even Christmas!

I don’t know about you guys but this is the best team in the world and I’m riding. If it means I’m riding to heinzmustards valley of doom then so be it.

HERE WE GO STEELERS HERE WE GO

ps: please win so I can change my avatar back

Fully healthy this is the best team in the league. We have had a lot of strange circumstances to overcome over the last few weeks. Even with everything that happened Monday the Steelers still should have won that game.

I doubt we beat the Bills, but I bet we handle our business the rest of the year. If we can go into the playoffs healthy I like our chances.

Some people are just negative by nature. I feel sorry for them. I’m a very positive person. Life is good.

When we were winning a lot of pent up negativity was stuck inside people that they couldn’t vent without being ***** slapped. We loose one game and they let it all out.

It’s like women and panty hose. If they don’t pull them down and fart every once in a while, they will explode.

As a fan base we aren't built for limitless success. We were just waiting for the other shoe to drop so we knew what to do. Now week 12 was not what we were thinking but at least now we can pull out the notes from the first 11 games and get our bitching on. This is like cheers where ever one knows our name.

I look at it differently. Offensively we are inconsistent. Defensively we are banged up. The reality looks like the team has plateaued. If they lose Sunday night, that is what I expect based on recent performance. If they win, I will be pleasantly surprised and impressed. Why get all giddy about 11-1, when you factor in the past two weeks, and have a big letdown?

Bills are a good team, playing at home vs a banged up Steelers team. I don’t want to lose but it is ok if we do. Just need to go on a little streak once the playoffs start.

here is to winning on Sunday or at least showing positivity.

Bills will be a big test especially with the key injuries to the defense. If the Steelers are to beat the Bills I think they will need help such as two ints and maybe a fumble and a big return. I don't see this offense scoring more than 24 points and the Bills are explosive so its going to be tough but a loss isn't the end of the world. Steelers are hurting bigtime on D and the offense needs to get back in sync.

The Bills run defense is suspect, so if Conner can rush for 75-100 yards (but who knows with the Steelers O-line), the Steelers offense could control the time of possession. If the offense can catch the ball and run the ball, the Steelers will have a chance.

Great post BBH and I would love to join in but I'm trying my gloom and doom outlook since it's served me well in the past.

From what I've seen on this board, it isn't we lost one game, members have been posting concerns of the teams weaknesses from way back . The leaks in the dam are just more pronounced now but they were/ are the same now as they've been for weeks. Some may call that pessimism and others like to think its critical critique in hopes the team makes necessary improvements. Why its more pronounced now is that the corrections never seem to happen and we keep plugging on with the same plan hoping the next game it works. Now after a loss, and the same issues right in our face, we'll see, and hope, if anything comes from it in the form of making adjustments. The one thing everyone doesn't want is a last quarter of the season meltdown which is not , unfortunately, unfamiliar the past several years.

Negativity stems from under performance of last few weeks, you want to see the team start to get better and hit stride this point of the year other than starting to look worse.

But I think Steelers can play better, if they get a few guys in better health and stop making as many drop passes and start running the ball with a little more sucess.

You should watch the Steelers game Sunday night and keep your string intact.
I have you beat by a couple seasons, but that's beside the point.;+)

Fully healthy, the Steelers were a match for any team in the league. They probably would have held on to the top seed, and with it, a great chance to get the Chiefs at home in the AFC Championship game. They weren't guaranteed anything, but they had a great shot at the Super Bowl.

We aren't going to see fully healthy again this season. That ended when Devin Bush went down in a heap grabbing his knee on the sideline against the Browns. With Bush and Dupree, the Steelers had a chance at being a truly special defense. The secondary was starting to tighten up some of the early-season communication errors and the run defense looked like it was as good as any in the league. The run defense hasn't been the same since they lost Bush for the season. Bush alone wasn't the reason they got trampled twice by the Ravens, but remember, they played both of those games without a key defensive lineman as well. The pass rush, the team's strength, is now diminished by the loss of Dupree. Highsmith is a good player, but he's not on that level yet.

Sunday could be very ugly. They are facing a very good offense without four starters on defense. Two of those starters aren't returning. The inside linebacker situation is a mess. They are missing the top four guys from the start of the season. Williamson is a good player, but he's still catching up to the defense. With the exception of faking blitzes and moving at the snap all the time, does anybody remember noticing Allen when he is on the field? He has nine tackles, and at least some of that has to be on special teams, even though he has been getting defensive snaps in passing situations since Gilbert went on IR.

More importantly, we saw the communication fall apart against Washington in the second half. The Bills will eat the Steelers alive if that kind of thing is still happening this week. That is another area where the absencee of Williams, Spillane, and Haden will hurt for this one.

This doesn't mean the Steelers can't still go on a great run. It doesn't mean they can't win a Super Bowl. They certainly aren't the favorites right now, nor should they be given the current state of the defense. The offense needs to figure things out now. They need a big game against a below-average Buffalo defense. Pouncey is back. Conner is back. The entire unit is intact. They need to find some consistency and a running game so they can carry the load until the defense at least gets Haden, Williams, and Spillane back.

With Josh Allen at quarterback, this is the worst week possible to have our top 3 ILBs out. Williamson already played the Bill's once this season. Maybe that will help him out this week.

Good point about Williamson. I hadn't thought of that. Haden being out of there is a big part of the problem, too. I'd feel a lot better about the defense's chances with Haden available to cover Diggs.

I guess it's all relative. Got a Giant friend over the moon at his team being 5-7 and in first place.

Avery had 13 combined tackles, and the Jets held the Bills to 18 points that day. I’m not saying we should expect the same thing, but he sure as hell won’t be surprised by what they do.

I'm surrounded by them and they should be happy. That team was 1-7 and now they are in first place in the division. I don't think they are going to win it because they have a tougher schedule than Washington, but it has been a nice run for a team that looked like it was going to be bad for a very long time very recently.

My frustration with the Steelers isn't about the loss, though that sucked. It is that we don't get to see what this team could have been due to the injuries and the scheduling issues. I believe the latter contributed to the former.

I have no doubt that he can play. I have doubts that he has the complete grasp of the defense that he needs. Knowing the plays is one thing. Knowing them well enough to react and make plays without hesitation is another. I don't think he's there yet, and now on top of it, he's going to be the defensive signal-caller.
