Usually when Tomlin makes a statement that sets the team up for a 'statement game', they fall flat.

    4 days rest?

How did the Players Union allow that to happen?

NFL doesn’t care about player safety if they’re going to run teams into the ground.

    That’s too much to overcome.

Spillane's injury is so weird, it looked like all he did was did a small jump to try to knock down a pass???

All I can think of is he landed funny and somehow hyper extended it? It would seem odd if it was a tear?

There hasn't been problems for weeks. We blew out Jax and Cincy. If not for the drops we would have blown out Baltimore as well. We have no running game without James Conner. We are passing too much to compensate for that. I have no explanation for the drops, but I don't blame Tomlin for that. He can't coach these guys to not drop the ball.

The argument is that teams get only three days off before Thursday night games. That said, there is no question that the Steelers have been royally screwed by the schedule adjustments this season and that all finally caught up to them last night.

Communication is more than just the guy with the green dot relaying the DCs call from the sideline. It is adjustments pre and post snap and everyone working together to react and make the play work correctly off the keys the offense gives you. I don't believe that is all on Williams after Spillane went down and therefore wasn't what Tomlin was implying. With that many new defensive players on the field and in some cases new to the D entirely or young and inexperienced it is no surprise they didn't 'communicate' with each other anywhere near as consistently as what we were used to.
Just look at how long it took for the secondary and large parts of the D as a whole that have been together for years to start clicking. Even then there have been mistakes referred to as 'communication' issues. It happens and certainly multiplies with this many new pieces.

It isn't solely on Williams, but the guy with the green dot is the one most responsible for getting the defensive calls and making those pre-snap adjustments.

At one point last night Wash. ran a pick with the two wr on the right crossing. Our DB's switched off their man perfectly and defended the pass in the endzone.

By the 4th quarter Wash. just lined up a RB wide and no one knew who was going to cover him, of course they did it again and again.

That's how critical communication among the DB's is in a game situation.
