I know some of you brought him up in another topic but why would they not work him into the mix? He flashed in preseason with the nice interception and return. He is way faster than Mundy and probably Allen as well. I believe he was a 4.5 guy at the combine and seems to have good coverage skills. The only thing I can come up with is the reluctance of letting rookies play but why not rotate him in against the Titans and let him prove himself one way or the other. You already know what Mundy is and that is not gonna change, but if Golden surprises it could make a huge difference!

I think there are a number of us on here wondering the same thing. Last bit I read from Tomlin was he would continue to use Mundy and mix in Allen. There is something we are not seeing the staff is seeing in order Robert is playing with the first team. It's either that or its just the fact he is a rook and the Steelers don't often utilize their rookies

I dunno what the deal is...But, for YEARS now this organization refuses to start a rookie on defense...Mundy is...Well Mundy  He always seems to be a step or two out of place a step or two slow and in an open field tackle he is usually handed his jock  .... Goldens has better athletic ability. I feel the same way about Robinson the lb on the practice squad. Tomlin say he's a one trick pony and can only rush the passer..Well, were going into our 5th game and one of our starting lb's have not played together and we are getting NO pressure from that position. Why not give him a try? Look at what the 49ers did last year with Aldon Smith. They said he was a one trick pony and eased him in...I seem to remember a while back a guy on our team that was "just" a pass rusher. Gregg Lloyd was pretty good!

Just an FYI - Robinson is on the main roster no the PS.

Anyways...while we can speculate all we want as to why Golden hasn't gotten more playing time on D we'll never know. Obviously there is a reason or the team would have him out there if he was in fact the best option available...but for that unknown reason he isnt.

Golden isn't "out there" cause he doesn't know our defense fully yet. Mundy is out there because he knows the D. The problem is Mundy even knowing the D can't execute that defense due to lack of ability. Golden should get a hat this week IMO, simply because of depth, but we will see. I would like to see the kid in a few plays here and there. Heyward and McLendon need to also get more reps. Carter should still get some at ROLB in order to keep Harrison fresh for the whole game...maybe 15 snaps total.

If Golden shines...it would be a nice surprise....but he just as easily could be 10 times worse than Mundy...and give up 21 points in the first quarter for being out of position.

How come NE, Green bay can play rookies? people this is not
rocket science, its football. This is why Dick must go, he has stunted
    the development of numerous players.

The finally really trust Mundy in the defense and he is in his what? 3rd or 4th year now.... Golden has 3 years to go before he plays :p

I don't think DL should go, that's an exaggeration.

As an AZ Catz fan out here in the desert I would like to see Golden get some time. Lets see what he can do at this level.

i like golden alot and liked when we picked him up. very suprised he wasen't drafted. he's pretty strong too for a cb/fs/ss. 19 reps at the combine. the kid was pretty good in the desert. i'd like to see a little bit of him. i'd like to see vandyke see some db time too.

I really want to see what he can do. He has to learn th defense but I still think he has starter potential. That speed can shut down deep balls and give us more man options. i dont think brown is going to cut it.

Is Will Allen injured again? What do we pay him for, exactly?

No, Will Allen will be replacing or at least rotating with Mundy tonight. I don't think he can be worse?!?! The whole reason I started this thread, why not Robert Golden, at least a little?

    It's hard not to disagree.

I remember being quite happy when we picked Allen up. His contribution just seems so minimal since he's been here. Still, suppose he's being kept around for something... let's see how he does tonight.

Not sure the NE and Green bay D's are ones we should be looking to match tbh.

In game isn't really the time to "evaluate" You put your best guys on the field....period....Tomlin, and DL must both think Golden needs more work....they see him in practice....they hear him in meetings...they say he is not ready.

We can agree or disagree all day long....doesn't really matter.

ok and since allen and mundy are not ready too we should go outside to find a safety , what abaout bullit , he is 29 and was not bad with the colts , had a shoulder problem but should be healthy now , or sean jones ? right now we don't have a decent bu safety

We obviously disagree with the FO on this....but they see these guys everyday in practice...they obviously think Mundy and Allen give the team the best chance to win.......If I were in charge....Taylor Mays would be backing up Clark.

No maybe not. I was just throwing out these teams because
I have seen irst year players playing roles for them, and they are consistently in the playoffs.
Yea I know it helps to have AR & TB. We may as well not draft high anyway, the players are not
going to play under Lebeau, they will be redshirted for 2 years.

is that why they think our o-line looks good? they go against our bad d-line and it makes them look better. they see the d-line go against our weakass o-line and it makes them look better. in summation the guys they go against in practice make them look alot better then they actually are. i think more focus was put on trying to get will allen ready to play then the focus on if golden is better or not. the old adage of you can't see the forest because of all the trees. they looked at james harrison in practice too for many years before he set the league on fire. hmmm, did someone miss something in practice? this from the same people that thought these players were good enough to draft too. these are the same people that went with the kemoeatu experiment for way too many years. it's also the same one's that saw colon struggle with slow footwork since training camp but failed to even try someone else so far. the same one's that keep bringing max starks back to start because he was better then jon scott. it doesn't make it right?
