who was the DB that made that horrible play on the 70 yard TD catch?

Haden was biting on a throw that wasn't even there.

    TE was well covered.

The throw was behind and inside to Brown. Dude made a great play on that ball in the air.

Not at that part of the game...He stays with brown and he's got a real chance of taking that ball away.

He was way too aggressive there on a throw he thought was going to a back-up TE. He needs to be on Brown like a fly on dookie that late in the game in that situation. You can't give them anything long.

Doesn't look like Edmunds was going for an INT either. Looks like he was going where he thought Brown would be when he caught that ball. Problem was that ball was underthrown and Brown attacked it and Edmunds was already in a bad spot at full speed. Should have broken down before that and tackled the catch. Even if he missed he would have slowed him down enough for Vince and Minka to get there.

Maybe Haden was wrong, but there is no question Edmunds committed the killer mistake. If he does his job properly, the play stops there and the Ravens never make it close.

Covering is putting it kindly though. Hollywood Brown was wide open by NFL standards. Any competent QB throwing and that play is an easy touchdown. Not only that, Watt also got away with pretty blatant illegal contact.

One for Watt with all the times he gets held, mauled.

I'm not going to blame haden on that one. Haden took a chance, and based on his experience and success, I like that in a DB.

Haden also knew he had someone behind him to protect, if he tried to anticipate the throw. He expected Edmunds to be that support, and Edmunds should have controlled his tackle, but lunged and missed. Edmunds has done better this year on his tackling, most have said, but in that instance he pulled his old poor tackling technique out of his bag.

It's on Edmunds not Haden IMO.

That's the thing though...everyone wants to talk about playing smart. The smart thing in that position at that point is play your assignment. Basically do your job. Make every throw a contested throw and have your safeties playing as back-up.

He left Brown meaning that catch was going to be uncontested anyway. The kid threw it because Brown was open. Yes, Edmunds messed up because he was aiming for where Brown was running his route, But he shouldn't have had to come in that fast trying to make the a play. Brown made a hell of a play coming back on that ball! If he's covered they probably sack him or get a hit. Edmunds has to see Haden leave him and get on his horse to make up the 10 yards just to get there. Definitely should have broken down and used the sideline as his help though.

I can agree with that too. Both DBs including Haden ,should be thinking keep everything in front, and don't overplay.

I think Haden, with his great anticipation in the first half on his pick 6 was probably feeling it again, and a little too confident on the throw to Brown.
