Just wondering if anyone knows what percentage of Steelers fans at the home games are from out of town?

there were at least 2 yesterday. My buddy and I. We also passed a car with Jersey tags on the turnpike going home. The guy was wearing a Steelers jersey. So, I'll go with at least 3.

Why would you think 15%? I bet it's quite a bit more than 15%.
There's no way of knowing for sure though

I've seen a number of out of state plates/peoples/etc at the games I've been to. Not sure about the percentage/etc though.

I'm thinking about 15% of the fans show up wearing empty-mustard-colored-seat costumes, but they are the best fans in the world none-the-less.

I'm gonna go with about 5% preseason games. 17% Regular season Games. Maybe 22% around holidays (Thanksgiving/X-Mas/NYE)when family members comes back to visit. And then back to about 12% Playoff games.
Statistics are very arguable but thats my best guess.

Away games I've seen > 50% consistently at some stadiums around the league. Bad teams with bandwagon fans and they know who they are. Cincinnati comes to mind. I'm certain we'll see a ton of Black N Gold in Tennessee Thursday night.

Every time I've been at Heinz I've always seen tags from WAY out of state. I saw people that drove from NEVADA before! I met another guy from Kansas once and I've met some folks from North Carolina. Every time I go people know I am from out of state because apparently my accent is VERY southern. It's funny to me that people laugh at the way I talk but never consider that maybe they sound pretty funny too ya know?

Living in Erie and driving (plenty of fans driving in from Erie) down I 79 to the Burg for the games, there are a lot of cars with NY, OH, and Ontario plates where the passengers are decked out in Steeler Gear. Flew out of Pit right after a game once and the airport was jammed with Steeler Fans. My brother would drive over from Philly for the games and claims that there were plenty of vehicles on the Turnpike headding to the game. I will bet that the number is closer to 50% than it is to 15%. It would be interesting for the Steelers to show the number of season tickets by zip code, but believe it or not... NOT all season ticket holders GO TO THE GAME!!!
