Rumor has it that Mahomes is behind the Steelers/Ravens game getting moved to Wednesday.

I have a horrible feeling that this matchup with Mahomes and the Chiefs won’t happen. I can see a rejuvenated Ravens or Titans coming in to Heinz field and dropping the Steelers before the AFCCG

If the Steelers can keep healthy and rolling and hold the #1 seed and manage to navigate their way to an AFCCG against the Chiefs at Heinz field I like our chances. That’s a lot of ‘if’s’ though.

The playoffs haven't even started yet, and some Steelers fans are obsessed with the Chiefs, I will worry about Mahomes and the Chiefs when the matchup is set.

They are going to have to be very disciplined on defense especially in the middle. Spillane and VWILL will need to fight against that impulse to run after Mahomes. He sucks guys off their responsibility with his scrambling and Spillane 's bo stop motor and Vwill's desire to destroy guys will fall for that. Like I said earlier get pressure with four, let TJ chase him from the pocket and have a roving spy to clean it up when he does.

Just the last 10 years? Did you watch them blow the AFCCG in Pittsburgh a few times in the 90s? I hope we knock em out in Arrowhead, shut that city up for awhile.

I tend to agree with the hall monitors on this one. Although I think KC would beat us as things stand now a lot of things could change such as injuries/we never end up playing each other/Covid

"The elephant in the room", as Tomlin called it.

I think this thread is a huge Ji... I can't even type the word.

Where's the Russel Wilson Steelers forum thread? Sometime down the road we might meet him in the Superbowl. Let's get 5 pages on him quick.:icon e confused:

Yes. 4 times during the Cowher era. AFCCG losses to Chargers, Broncos and Patriots twice. However, Cowher had a much better playoff record than Tomlin. Tomlin is barely above .500... and he's only won 3 unimpressive playoff games since Super Bowl XLV in 2011.

I’m very nervous about the other 31 teams in the NFL and any possible match ups. Did I mention that I was nervous?

    Still not moving it :taunt:

When the Steelers meet KC in the playoffs, we’ll already have a thread on it.

Cowher was blowing it with better teams than Tomlin has had since Polamalu hung his cleats up. Popcorn has no excuses this year from me, he has Ben with a defense.

I think we will play in the AFCCG this year. Ben will need to score 30+ in Pittsburgh or K.C. to reach the SB. Doesn't matter where they play it.

Anybody want to bring up "we had the killer Bs" I'll counter with we had Haley not putting any points up with that juggernaut offense. Ben was the only one consistently on the field also.

Chiefs aren’t one dimensional, they can run the ball.

Steelers abandoned the run against the Ravens, and possibly for the rest of the year.

ok, so here is a crazy connection I have to Mahomes. Did not know where else to put it, but if indeed there is a collision course:

The woman who runs the copy room at my place of work- is the mother of Patrick Mahomes' younger brother.

I don't know if she was ever married to Pat Sr. or not- but she met him while she was working for the Mets, and he is the father of her eldest son, Pat's half brother, Graham Walker. Graham was a very good prep prospect- I think he is a WR, and was scouted by many D-1 teams and almost chose Pitt. Instead, he opted for Brown University to get the Ivy League education and I believe he's in his first year there now.

She's an extremely pleasant, kind and funny person. I was careful brooking the subject of Patrick Jr. with her- but when she brought it up once herself, we talked about it a bit. She's a Patriots fan (we live in Vermont) as is her current husband and children, so she said she always has mixed emotions when the Chiefs played them. She showed me some pictures of her and Patrick when he was about 6 years old. She said that he had left tickets for his brother and her whole family one time when the Chiefs came to Foxboro.

    So, there's that.

He also had the likes of Neil O’Donnell and Kordell Stewart at quarterback who ultimately sabotaged those Steeler teams.

Off the top of my head the only other coach to walk into as good of a situation as Tomlin was George Seifert. Taking over a team with a ready made defense and a hall of fame quarterback going into his 4th year

Ben threw it 51 freaking times. Just a gross and frankly predictable offense all the way around.
