Looking more and more likely that the NFL will be going with a few Playoff Bubbles due to the rising Covid cases. Might make the 1 seed pointless especially if an 8th team is added to each conference.

Yea I’m hoping they can avoid that and that is an absolute last resort and this Steelers Ravens outbreak is the last major outbreak of the NFL season.

Well other then the Titans and Ravens outbreaks that both had an impact on the Steelers more then anybody they really haven’t had any major major issues through 11 weeks of the season. They have moved some games around here and there but nothing so far that has made them talk about absolutely going to a bubble for the playoffs. I still give this a few more weeks before I even consider doing this if I’m the NFL. I don’t like the idea of that at all.

NFL organizations are much larger than NBA. Having said that, for the teams that make the playoffs, probably is worth the cost.

I’d first recommend N-95 masks with fit testing and infection control training. Stress that everyone in the organization act as if they’re a nurse on a COVID floor.

I am OK with the playoff bubble concept, but I think it should be the traditional 6 teams per conference instead of 8. It makes it more manageable, and rewards teams like the Steelers and Chiefs with a bye for what they’ve been able to accomplish.

I think the NFLPA already agreed with owners on 7 teams so I don’t think that’s a possibility. Not adding the 8th now that I agree with would certainly end up hurting the 1 seed unfairly.

If they are going to do a bubble, then I hope they make the decision soon.

That way, assuming the Steelers clinch a playoff spot soon, they can use the last few weeks to rest guys since there will be no home field advantage for anyone, and probably not a bye either.

I agree it needs to be made within 3-4 weeks of the playoffs starting I feel which would be mid December or so. I like the idea that was suggested in the other thread on here about taking next week off with all the positive cases and high numbers in general and move all those games to week 18 and give everybody a good 7-10 days to isolate. This can hopefully get the virus under control where no more major outbreaks will take place the rest of the season and a bubble playoff scenario won’t be needed.

Tell that to Denver, who will be starting Fred Durnst, part time beer salesman and janitor, at QB today.

I was just going to post that in the NFL talk. Glad no fans are paying for this 'high quality' NFL product.

That sounds good, but moving all those games to week 18, what happens if the next week (or whatever) there is multiple outbreaks, keep pushing the season back? What about the quality of play? Denver players are tweeting and begging the NFL to cancel their game because the literally have no QB. Now Denver is going no where, but still the nonsense will get more out of control..if no one gets serious about control.

Sure would love to watch that game. I think I get KC/TB. I can't wait to see his numbers at games end. He may set a record for most hand offs in a game.;+)

They should just do a version of a wildcat and jet sweeps all game. Take the clock down to 3 seconds each snap and try to play tough D. It’s pretty ridiculous

Masks don't help. only absolute isolation can help. I wore a mask, wore gloves to the store, washed my hands continually and I still got Covid. 70 percent of those that have come down with COVID have worn masks. Nothing will stop this disease except for an effective vaccine. You can look for more and more players to come down with COVID. I don't know if the season will finish or not. The Broncos have no QBs left on their roster that can play this week. So unless we all want to just stay home and never our for any reason there is nothing that will stop it. Yes I wear a mask because I don't want anyone bothering me when I'm out in public. That's the ONLY reason I still wear one. I am hoping that the NFL can finish the season somehow but I have no confidence in that happening

Well hopefully the week off gives everybody a good 7-10 days of isolation and gets everybody that had COVID completely healthy and you start back fresh the following week on December 13th. Hopefully players especially ones on playoff teams will be more mindful as well of social distancing and mask wearing the remainder of the season where a huge spread can be limited. I’m sure their would still be some cases here and there but they would probably avoid a Ravens Steelers outbreak situation that would cause the possibility of another shutdown and more games having to be moved.

Yeppers! My son and family wore mask and got it. I was watching some science guy on the tube and he said something to the effect if an oxygen molecule can get through your mask, which it can or you couldn't breathe, the covid molecule can too.

I'm getting excited that a cure may be coming soon. Give it to the Steelers first please.;)

Masks only REDUCE the risk. But it's never zero.

Even if everyone wore a mask (and correctly. 99% of people make mistakes. Even long term health care workers. It's easy to slip up and not even realize it), transmission will still happen. No one ever said it wouldn't. The point of the masks is to lower how easily spread it is so hospitals aren't overrun.

But yes, the masks can protect you to a point. Mostly, the virus is carried in tiny moisture droplets that a mask can stop a good percentage of the time. The virus isn't floating around in the air dry (much harder for any mask to stop a truly airborne virus) like, say, chicken pox. It's not 100% effective. Maybe not even 70% (when everyone is wearing a mask). But even then, some protection is better than none.

You're right when you say only isolation is 100% effective. Sadly, that's not possible for most people. So reducing risk is the best we can do until a large portion of the population is immunized.

The league should be working on alternatives right now. Along with the rest of the country, the NFL is seeing daily surges in positive cases. Maybe after this week, they should take off a month to set up 4 or 6 bubble cities, play the rest of the regular season and use the old 12 team playoff model, which was perfect anyway. The two teams that would have made the playoffs under the new system can be compensated by the league somehow. It's understandable that the league would try to maintain the schedule like they have in normal years, but we are currently most assuredly not living under normal circumstances. If they keep trying to follow the regular schedule, this season is going to turn into one huge chain reaction crash.

I keep saying there has got to be a way to stop the NFL from sitting people that are not Covid positive out of games. There are many Covid tests out there that could be used on game day to test a player; one test gives results in 30 seconds!

Only 1 Denver QB tested positive for Covid; the rest had attended a meeting and ruled out because they came in contact.

One source told the AP that starter Drew Lock, backup Brett Rypien and practice squad veteran Blake Bortles were deemed high-risk close contacts with No. 3 quarterback Jeff Driskel on Wednesday, the day before Driskel tested positive for COVID-19.
