Don’t think we have seen any update on him since he went to the Covid list which feels like 2 weeks ago. Hope he is alright this thing can supposedly affect people in many different ways. Even though OLineman are still professional athletes they may not always be in the best shape physically from a weight standpoint. Kid really showed some promise in the few games he started this year hope this doesn’t have any long term negative affects for him.

I hear you but I think I saw an article about X Steelers Jamaine Stephen’s son dying as a younger lineman. Of course maybe he had a pre existing condition of some sort but still very scary stuff.

    Tragedy happens, very sad.

Many overweight and out of shape Jagoffs can’t matriculate a set of stairs before being out of breath. These guys bring it, against phenomenal defensive athletes play after play.

They do more than eat, they work out constantly. They have to be in great shape or they wouldn’t last a drive.

When I see some of those big ass offensive lineman I think no way they can move at all and then I'm amazed how damn quick a 300 pound man can move.

I recall a story from years ago. After a practice a rookie OL went over to Mike Webster and trying to impress him said, "I am going to run a set of stairs all the way to the top" this at 3 rivers stadium. Mike just looked at him unimpressed and said, "I am going to run every step in the stadium" and he did.

It’s bad to be 300+ long term but yeah they have the lung capacity, strength increases, and cardiovascular conditioning your average Joe’s don’t have.

That is all true, but I've always thought lung capacity is overrated. I've got tremendous lung capacity (insert joke here), but I also have respiratory issues. The problem can be getting oxygen to the lungs. For people who are overweight, that can mean thickening of the throat causing some restriction of the airway. It can also mean the respiratory and pulmonary systems having to work harder due to the weight. The latter is where cardiovascular conditioning helps a great deal.

It is concerning that we haven't heard anything about Dotson. Given that McDonald is back, I imagine that means he at least had a milder case.

I've been worried about Dotson, too. I hope he recovers 100%. He was so happy to have been drafted by the Steelers. I think he said he was born to be a Steeler. Young man with loads of potential.

Not many men are at their normal size when they are 6 ft 4 and weigh 320 lbs . Some struggle to keep down to that and others struggle to keep up at that weight.
Most Olinemen could outrun most of the people on here over 15 to 20 yards I agree they are in much better shape then they appear to be .

Its always interesting to see a former offensive lineman a few years after they retire some get their weight down to a healthy level and others just let themselves go.

It is frustrating not to of heard anything about Dotson for weeks, I hope he is recovering and wish him well.

I hope he returns to full strength I think he can be a road grader people mover in another year or two.

Great news I believe that only leaves us with Tuitt Hawkins and Connor on the Covid List.

Am I the only one who is thinking that the reason are run game improved late in the game was because Chucks was out, Feiler moved to RT, and Dotson was in at guard?

No I've felt that way long before this last game. The switch to LG whether for the reason the staff gave or to save money isn't working well. Fieler hasn't gotten used to that side, he isn't sure about dbl teams and AV leaves him out to dry more often than not. He is used to having DD on his left and not needing to help on team blocks. Chuks has performed adequately but not spectacular. If you are going to play RT for Pittsburgh you better be able to drive your man back and seal the lane. Dotson is a natural guard, Fieler is a converted tackle so why not use them where they belong

Agreed. I think they would be better off with Dotson at left guard and Feiler at right tackle. I think that group can pass protect well enough, and they would be far more effective running the ball. Okorafor just gets pushed around too much in the running game.

I mentioned this last week I think, but if someone has the 22 footage from the Jags game there is one play Id love to see more of. It was in the 2nd half, Conner had just made a 12 yard run on 1st down and they tried another handoff and the play was blown up for minimal gain. My feed froze on the play so as got a great look at where every one was when Conner got tackled. Basically Decastro was the only one on front of Conner and no other OL member was in front blocking for him. Av is behind Ben on his right side of all places. Thats where they need to start breaking down whats wrong.

Hodge was on the radio blasting Conner for always being out in front of his blockers and never allowing the play to develop. Basically he said until he learns to slow down and let his blockers block he will never be a successful back in the NFL. With the Steelers running out of the Sotgun so much, I agree with Hodge as it seems Conner always seems to being trying to bounce it outside because the hole has not opened yet.

When we brought in Watt to play FB, I had high hopes that we would see our running game return. Conner's style is built for an I or Pro set with a lead blocker, but does not really work out of the shotgun, where you have to wait for the OL to get into position to be your lead blocker.
