Since Ben can’t seem to throw too many long balls accurately, and Connors can’t seem to run on a consistent basis, I would crowd the short and intermediary routes.

Dime coverage and stick a speedy LB on one side and a blitzing DB on the other. When the ball is snapped the LB will chip the slot guy off his route and throw off the timing, blitzing DB comes at Ben and he has to check it down for a short gain. It can be done but hopefully not soon.

Then, you come out and run the ball down their throat and set up PA.

Don’t forget Eric Ebron!! Looking like an astute signing at this point.

I'm all for that. I said in the why can't we run thread that when they spread it out like that the receivers aren't selling the pass on draws and delays. They start blocking at the snap keeping more bodies around the LOS. If Ebron goes up the seam, JuJu on a slant from the slot and Chase and or Washington deep go routes you basically suck the backend into coverage and more room for the back to work in.

Let our Offensive Coordinator call plays?

Seriously though, image if Andy Reid was calling plays.

Pressure Ben, that’s how you stop them.

the only real way to stop our 5 wide set is to get to ben before he spots the mismatch

    Stand there don’t rush
Jump up and block bens pass
It’s worked well so far for the defense.

I apologize. As self imposed punishment, I'll subject myself to watching all 30 seconds of Chris Simms' career highlights.

tall D linemen have been having some success as well. Noticed last week when Ben had time to double pump he was able to disrupt the timing of said lineman. Guess it is a give and take for the type of quick passing we have started to engage in, with this I have also noticed a lot of deflections for other QB's this year.

To me the 5 wide package has 2 groupings

    1. Speed - DJ, Juju, Chase, Washington & Ray Ray

    2. Size & Physicality - DJ, Juju, Chase, Washington & Ebron

IMO very few defenses can match up against that. If you really want blow their minds when you line up in these sets put Ray Ray or Chase aside of Ben in shotgun as a run or pass option out of the backfield, their would be mismatches all over the field.

Interesting. It wouldn't take much practice time away in the week to just throw a couple different formations to simply check out of.

But if you really wanted to incorporate it, after a run where JC would get a breather, bring Macfarland or Snell in and line up Chase and Ray Ray in the wishbone. Watch how the defense reacts and you could always motion one or both out. But if the right defense is there, pull a guard and everyone block down. You've got a handoff to the rb, a fake handoff and possible screen to one of the sidecars, or even a pitch back to the side car behind the play to cut it back opposite the motion.

Wouldn't hurt to try something like that once or twice a game. Well, it could hurt if it goes horribly wrong.

Or blitz their azzes off and put pressure on Ben. That's what I'd do.

Pitch plays have always made me cringe.....that is unless they are blocked correctly and the exchange is clean, then they can be a thing of beauty.
