I'm on vacation and while watching the game I couldn't hear everything. I saw TP leave and didn't hear the injury news. Just received a text saying 43 is out for the season with a torn calm? Any news?

Haven't seen anything about him being out for the season and there is nothing online about it.

At one point, Troy was laughing on the sidelines while his calf was wrapped in ice. I don' t think he'd be in good spirits if the injury were serious.

I doubt its season ending, but how much patience will the organization show him? He is making alot of money and he has fallen off alot in the past couple of years. I love troy but its getting ridiculous

Probably not season ending but it will be season nagging. Judging by the past I bet he's out for a month or so. He'll come back but be hobbled. He'll still play but you will notice he's not 100% and he won't make big plays. He'll miss out on making a big play in a big game and we'll all say if only Troy were healthy he'd make that play.

Sit him until he's long healed. Have him spend a lot of time working out. Maybe have Ike set him up with his guy. Bring him back a few weeks before the playoffs to shake the rust off and hopefully he can stay healthy for the playoff run.

Then at the end of the season release him or trade him. He's done. He can't stay healthy, and he's not the same player anyway. He's one of the greatest of all time, but he's done. Time to go to more of a conventional safety back there, one that's good in coverage. With the way the game has progressed, both safeties need to be good in coverage, and that sure isn't Troy's strength

Whether he's out for the season or not, it's disconcerting to me that he's laughing on the sidelines when he can't seem to stay on the field to help his team.

I am not sure they will have to make the decision in the off-season since Troy talked last year about hanging up his cleats and walking away from the game. I think if he feels that he has lost the desire to play and wants to do more besides football he may choose to do that. I know it was a big topic for him through out last season so I don't think the team needs to take any action besides just letting him make up his own mind.

Yeah haven't heard anything so my info seems bad. As for TP as someone said has numerous times said he will retire young. IMO he is done after this year on his own terms

Thats the sucky part. He had the whole offseason to heal from last year and hes played a total of 1 game and 1 quarter before being injured again.

Troy seems like a great guy. A class act. And in his prime he was great. But he's unreliable and huge cap liability now. Its going to be a tough decision, but they need to address his situation this offseason.

Sucks that Troy is always hurt.... It is hard to say he is done though... I thought for years Ed Reed was done, he is often injured too, but he continues to play at a high level. I think you got to keep Troy until he proves he can't perform on the field rather than how often he is injured for right now, you just never know....

I can't recall a Steeler starter being hurt more than him, I am afraid
his body is breaking down right before our eyes. Does anybody know how many games
he has missed since being drafted by the Steelers?

Troy is my guy, but I definitely agree with you on this one. If you are on the sidelines laughing, get off your ass and get in the game :bs:

Troy, class act, great guy, but he is injury prone and can't help the team being out. Time to move on. Its time to make this defense work without him. He didn't even get touched when he got hurt, just came up lame. At this point it doesn't make any sense waiting on him to get healthy. Mundy is terrible and the young guy has not been given a chance. I say go with the young guy and see what he does. I feel like anything is better then Mundy. He is a liability to the team ever time he trouts out their.

Mundy have played terrible in all four games that he has played in. He misses far to many tackles, and can't cover. What can Golden do? I think they need to find out.

Troy is done. He is 31 years old and I don't think he has the desire to play anymore!

I just saw the replay of Troy's injury and it was bizarre. He was covering a receiver and when the play was over he took several steps then all of a sudden acted like he'd been shot in the calf. Weird. This guy is just falling apart.

There are plenty of signs. Example, him sitting on the sidelines smiling yesterday while his leg was wrapped. He hasn't made any real splash plays in a long time. He is injured more often then not. If he is not playing, that hurts the team. Mundy is not the one. He is a total liability to the team everytime he trouts ot their. His injry yesterday was totally crazy. No one even touched him, he just came up lame! He is 31 years old, has a lovely family, has played football for a very long time, and has made a lot of money. Maybe he is tired of the football life. Its time for the Steelers to move on without him. He's a great guy and a class act but its time to move on just like they did with Farrior, Ward, and Smith!

Do you really think a man of Troys integrity would hurt the team by sticking around if he didn't want to play anymore? He'd retire in a heartbeat. And he was smiling on the sideline, so what, should he be weeping while holding a razor blade to his wrist? He wasn't smiling when he hopped off the field, how long is the no smile rule in effect? 10 minutes? 30 minutes? a day? week? Sorry for the wise ass comment but fan expectations around here are off the map.

    Love this smiling business.

You are the star player of the defense, and you've been injured, again. Players come over and ask how you're doing. What would you do? Burst into tears, declare the season is over and then symbolically climb up on a crucifix? Or give a "hey, it's going to be fine, we're all still in this" kind of comment and keep the vibe on the sideline positive?

I don't know if that's what Troy was actually doing. Maybe he really didn't care. Maybe he found the pain in his calf that was enough for him to exit the game incredibly amusing. But I really wouldn't put too much on it.

Edit: just realised TomlinEra posted much the same thing above me. Great minds, and all...

Doesn't have the desire to play anymore because he aggravated his injury and was seen smiling on the sideline during the game?

It's coming from a guy who a few weeks ago said he was done with the the Steelers. Not sure what he was done with cause all he's done is ***** about them.
