Special Teams were AWFUL

If memory serves me correct, the Steelers

1. Missed 2 XP; one of which was blocked
2. Had a false start on a field goal, which ended up helping us!
3. Gave up 2 long returns, including off a pooch kick wherein we could have avoided that by just kicking the ball out of the end zone.
4. Almost had a field goal blocked
5. Didn't even attempt a field goal to go up by 8 with less than a minute to go because we were afraid of the same guy blocking another field goal (at least that was Romo's reasoning).

IMO, this was the worst ST's play since we let Eric Metcalf return 2 punts for touchdowns in the same game.

 

All part of sandbagging the League. Nothing more. Nothing less. Many teams playing great games have lost. I'll take #1 seed for now in spite of the imperfections.

 

On the bright side, our punter averaged over 50 yds per kick

 

They had a bad game, but for the most part they have been above average to very good so far. Remember when we used to get flagged on almost every kick return?

 

This was the only game so far this season that our ST were outplayed. When was the last time we could say that after 8 games? Regardless of tonight's game special teams has been a strength this year.

 

There were some bright spots:

Berry - 50+ average and a 62 yarder...Did I really just say that??
59 yard Field Goal

I can't believe they couldn't figure out how to slow the blocking attempts though. Get two guys on him for christ's sake!
