Who needs mobility with the dink & dunk? Still taking one & 1/2 linemen to bring him down. :matrix0:

His plans coming over to the Steelers from KC was to win the open starting guard position. He could have been upset about not at least getting an opportunity to win the position.

No idea why they would do this for the backup center position alone. I wonder if they were worried about Gray getting picked up if he was sent back to the practice squad?

I am sure KC will pick him backup for depth.

While it does seem strange, the reason he was released is because Kevin Dotson is the better player.

Now as far as financial ramifications, I'm not sure if this was smarter or not? If he doesn't get picked up, I assume we can always bring him back if we sustain an injury.

Guys, relax. It's an accounting move, nothing else. They needed to activate people and make room on their roster, specifically at linebacker. Wiz can't play, and they couldn't move Trey back to the PS because they've already called him up three times.
I'm sure they've been told not to pack, when they need them they'll be picked right back up.

He is also 31 years old. It’s not like he was a rising star with lots of potential.

I don't know why this happened or really care, just win #8 today. People make a lot of money to figure these things out. Are you not entertained?

This goes back to the idea that they need more than one guy on the bench who can play inside.

Ben has another year and a HUGE cap hit. Do the Steelers want to extend him next season to possibly lower the cap hit and stretch it into 2 years? Guess it depends on this season how far this team can go. I believe they are in the running to get to the Super Bowl. If they win this season Ben might just want to take the last year for a try at a repeat. They can draft a QB in the 1st but its not going to be a high pick. Hopefully 32nd.

Like Ask said they need to draft some O Line help and if it's not a QB in the 1st a Tackle or Center should be high priority. AV's a free agent after this season and Pouncey is a free agent after next season.

Possibly Wisniewski was cleared put still nicked up. Most of these players are nicked up but not considered injured. A bit of a surprise. Edmonds can be resigned to the PS.

Just a note- not to say I told you so or anything, cause I would never do that- Trey was resigned to the roster today to take McDonald's spot.

If they didn't activate him then he would have gone on IR for the season. He only practiced once and that was limited. This gives him a chance to get well and play this year.

Ben is in the top 3 or 4 QB in the league right now. It's silly to predict his demise.

He did dress for the last game. He blew the block his block on the last field goal, which was nearly blocked. (It was Dotson who did the same thing on the extra point that was blocked.)

He is still out there, and 31 other teams haven’t grabbed him?

Some Eagles stuff came up (local) and there was some talk they should make him an offer, but seems there is bad blood. Also still not understanding all the details but seem PS is not an option (or for Edmunds, although he has been resigned)..you can only be activated and sent back so many times.

Yup. They signed him to the practice squad, but I imagine he will be on the active roster before long. They took some serious hits on the line, so they needed the help. I still think the Steelers made a mistake there.

Couldn’t understand it at the time and still don’t. I know he hardly played before he got injured but on paper he is a really good depth piece that can give you cover at Center or Guard. Obviously we don’t know the full details but surely there was a way to keep him around

KC gets him for $84K. He would have cost the Steelers $1MM+. He’s 31 and for 2 weeks 31 other teams could have had him for chump change. There was no reason for the Steelers to keep him.
