AFC North QBs

Just my own opinion and summary of the AFC North QBs. I love the AFC North being the toughest division in the NFL. While it would be over the top for the Steelers to have an undefeated record in winning the Super Bowl, I am just has happy with them hitting the playoffs with a 12-4 record (in some years, obviously they must have fewer than 4 losses this year in order to have the first round bye week.) Most years, a 12-4 record will get them a first round bye. My point being the 12-4 record is not a blemish on their record, but battle scars from being in the toughest division in the NFL.

• First off, I obviously love Ben. #1 in the AFC North. Would not have wanted any other QB since 2004
• Lamar Jackson - 2019 MVP - Very exciting to watch, Ravens are lucky to have him.
• Joe Burrow - Although, we have not faced him yet. He seems to be the real deal and I hope the Bengals are able to be competitive with him.
• Baker Mayfield - Another exciting player, still has room to grown and must adjust to the NFL. May not have measured up on some accounts, but in his defense he has had 4 head coaches in 3 years. That is a detriment to any QB's development. It is rumored that Cleveland may consider trading him prior to the 2021 draft. That would be a big mistake for Cleveland. Unfortunately for Baker, he could become another victim on a long list of QBs beaten down by the Cleveland Brown organization.

That is fair. I can agree with you at this point. I'd be curious with the right system of what Baker would be. Never a Steeler, I think it would be like watching Duck. He just doesn't fit the system.

They all suck except Ben.

 

As well as Lamar may have done last year, I don't believe he will be a Raven starter for 15 years. I'll give him 8 years tops.

 

No doubt in my mind Burrow's is future superstar. I hope the Bengals ARE NOT able to build around him. In a few years it will be Joe vs Mason and I don't like that match-up.

 

Who has the best back-up????? Sure the hell don't want to see Mason unless it is a meaningless game.

 

What type of system is that? He is just too inconsistent to really be a starting QB on a playoff caliber team. TBH the system he is in now is actually pretty good for him. Rely on the run game, work the play action, and get his talented pass catchers the ball. It allows him for easy reads and helps get him outside the pocket to reduce his decision tree. He is good when option 1 is working and maybe option 2 if he is feeling it. If he has to go through progressions or rely on beating the defense pre snap.... he will be garbage.

Randy Fitchner is even worse w/o Big Ben. Heck, with Big Ben, Randy is good but not great. Matt Canada gives me hope.
