He is quietly having a perfect year. He’s been great for the most part and it’s something we shouldn’t take for granted. Ask Tennessee!

The word to use with Boz is consistency, that is what you need for all of Special Teams but especially a kicker. Speaking of STs I really like what Ray Ray is bringing to the return games. He is a threat every time he touches the ball and can change a game instantly. To be a great team all three phases must be used, Ray Ray and Boz give us that.

Ray-Ray has got some serious x-ray vision. I have no idea where he's going until he's already there. At times it looks like he's going to bounce it outside, and I'm all ready for that because there's green pasture out there. But then WHOOOP, he's cutting it up inside and grabbing a chunk of yardage, or 57 yards closer to the endzone.

My only gripe is that on his long run, he didn't use his blocker. He made that last cut inside instead of out around his blocker. He had 6 if he had just used his blocker.

During the game I was thinking he must be having a good year because we hadn’t heard anything otherwise.

Plus, didn’t he have at least 2 deep kickoffs which had not been his norm early on.

It's so nice to have a reliable kicker. Boz is outstanding. His kickoffs have improved greatly as well. Keep up the great work Chris!

I’m pretty sure Boz is told to kickoff short, on occasion.

The blocker was behind him, but he still would have been better off making a cut to the punter's left. Cutting back gave the other defender the opportunity to catch him.

I can't tell if you're agreeing with me or not. If you're agreeing with me, you're correct.

At the start of the ball flight Sunday I started yelling the F word. I was sure that kick was going through the uprights. Then the ball reminded me of my golf game and shanked.

This thread is the "Wizard of Boz". You should go post that on Tennessee's forum and title it "The Misery of Gostkowski".

If only we had a Boz type consistency at punting...

Daniel Sepulveda was supposed to be that guy when he was drafted in the 4th round 2007 but got injured in 2008. He came back in 2009 winning a SB in 2010 while off and on injured then disappeared into nevereverland after 2011. While he did not have terrible stats it was never worth a 4th round, pick # 112 draft pick.

You realize when talking about hot kickers, is like talking about hot goalies in hockey, you just don't bring it up.

I agree that he made the wrong cut. I disagree about using the blocker, who was a few steps behind him.

You're half right. Go back and look again, Pierre was most definitely NOT behind him.

I did watch it again. McLoud was ahead of Pierre and he would have would have had to slow down to set him up. What he really needed to do was a quick juke left, then cut right. That would allow him to stay out of range of the defender trying to catch him from behind while possibly allowing him to get by the punter.

We're watching different plays. You sure you're watching the Steelers and not the Iowa Hawkeyes?

It's still so weird to me that he was so terrible in 2018 and has otherwise been pro-bowl level.

Pro athletes are human too. Years of practice and repetition against other elite athletes still isn't enough to fix things once you get in your head.

Sir Charles and his golf swing is a great example.

Our special teams have been great. Good offense, great defense, great special teams = 6-0

I said it took all 3 to be at least good to win a Super Bowl. Ho hum

I was meh on the pick as well, but honestly in the draft hindsight is nearly always king. He had the leg, was a 2x Ray Guy winner, and I believe still holds the NCAA career punt avg, and punts over 50 yards. Injuries suck and take away many careers. When Oakland took Ray Guy in the 1st round it seemed a pretty stupid pick, then had a HOF career. They could have waited, but liked what they saw and pulled the trigger. Without the injuries he may have justified the pick, Guy sure did.

You just do not understand. That's the fake jump and pump before you let it go. Years of practicing that in the NBA just make the pathways of the brain react like that naturally. I bet if you ask his wife she gets a lot of the fake pump and jump before he let's go.
