I understand the reasoning behind rotating Harrison in and out because he's been out for awhile and conditioning might be an issue, but why in the world do the coaches find it necessary to do the same thing with Woodley? Woodley has been through every OTA, a full and grueling summer at training camp, has been injury free and able to train every day and you would think he should be in great condition by this point. I understand the article says they want to keep him fresh so he can chase Vick around in the second half, but Woodley is not going to get any faster and Vick is not going to get any slower in the second half. There were some that questioned Woodley's conditioning last year when he missed a significant portion of the season with hamstring injuries, and the proclamation that we've got to "spell" him throughout the course of this game has me perplexed.

I question Woodley's conditioning even this year. He looks too big and too slow. He needs to shed some weight and put on some lean muscle. That's generally not something that happens mid-season though, so hopefully next year all our guys can come into camp in shape. Perhaps my memory has faded over time, but I don't recall people coming into camp out of shape when Cowher was running things. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I just don't recall it being a constant problem like it has been under Tomlin.

Then who's fault is it? The players? I would agree with that, if it happened once. When it happens more than once and seems to happen every year, sometimes with the same players, that's on the coaching staff. There needs to be accountability of the players will do whatever the hell they want. Remove laws from society and there would be chaos. Accountability is needed, and there doesn't seem to be any under Tomlin.

If the coach allows his players to come to camp out of shape, who's fault is it? I would think the coach. They have options in dealing with this kind of stuff. Starting with fines. Get into their pockets if they don't comply. Woodley seems like he is border line ever year. Why not sit him down at the end of the season and set some guidelines for him. Telll him that he must come to camp at a certain weight and if not he will not play until he reaches the goal and he will lose so money.

Think about how Ike Taylor trains. One thing you can say is that Ike trains harder then anyone on the team. He has invited other players to come down and train with him. Infect this year, Wallace trained with Ike's trainer before he reported to the Steelers. He was in good shape.

The problem with Woodley is that he is lazy, got payed, and just doesn't care. I blame Tomlin for allowing this type of stuff to happen. I'd say that Woodley does not need a break, he didn't miss any OTA's, training camp, or pre-season. He has been their all along. He should play every snap that he is suppose to play. No excuses, he got his money and he should perform accordingly.

Agreed. Woodley should either play every snap he normally would, or he shouldn't play at all. Sit his ass on the bench and let him know if he can't handle a full workload, then he doesn't get to play at all. I'd rather send a message now and lose then allow this BS to continue. Short term pain for long term gain. Tomlin needs to get this team to where it should be. The talent is there

Although Woodley is a great player...He seems to ramp it up in the second half of the year... He comes in camp a little heavy, get a hammy which slows him up for the first half of the year....and then he winds up getting 10 sacks all in the last half of the year.

Considering the average defensive player is on the field for only 28 minutes a game, and in some games even less depending on their offense chewing up the clock, it's hard to believe they have to have a breather to be productive. A boxer trains to go 10 or 12 rounds in a fight, he has to be in the ring for 30 to 36 minutes to go the distance if need be, he cant get another boxer to take his place in any round because he's tired. Football players should train to go the distance, or they should find another profession....In the old days players played on offense and defense, they stayed on the field for 60 minutes, today we cant keep a player on the field for 28 minutes without giving them a break, for petes sake, give me a break...

If you are paying this individual 55 Mil is ten sacks/yr enough? I DON"T THINK SO!
