    New question:

Lynn Swann was not originally given #88. Instead, during training camp in 1974, he wore what number?

I dunno, Myron, Did Walt Disney ever write about college players?!?
I`ve been trying to figure that clue out, for a while now... Without resorting to "google"...
I`m pretty sure the Oregon Ducks have nothing to do with it...
Any other waterfowl-related teams have a "dynasty", that could somehow be related to a kid coming out of the south in the 70`s?
And I think I am off-track, by thinking about teams... It`s gotta be more "media-related"... Ducks?! Local newspaper name, somewhere?
I give.... "UNCLE"!!!.... "MERCY"!!!.... :(
I have a simple(modern) question to ask, but I will refrain, until, I either get one right, or this thread dies for another couple of days... ;-)
    GO STEELERS! :yeehaw:

My hero Walt Disney was sadly dead by the time TB got to the NFL so I'm guessing he had nothing to do with it. LOL.

Hey Myron just out of curiosity did u see the thing we found where Chuck Noll was named Coach of the Year? It wasn't by the AP it was by a different group. I told TTF that I think you were right in saying he never won it because I think you were thinking about the AP. I was just wondering if you caught that earlier in the thread.

I did catch it and I agree...Noll NEVER won coach of year....The group who did award Noll ..Coach of year has long passed...They do not award that any more....Case closed....Was a bogus award that is no longer avaliable!!!

LOL. I'll tell you something that's gonna REALLY make you feel old. I'm only 30! So by the time I was being born TB was winding it down along with all the other greats. But in a lot of ways if you think about it the Steelers are a lot like Disney in that the fanbase spreads multiple generations. When I was growing up we went to Disneyworld every year. Now me and my wife own a timeshare overlooking the Magic Kingdom and I can tell you a lot about things that happened in Disney lore 80 years ago. Then hopefully my son who is 2 will love it as much as we do. The same thing goes for the Steelers. Hopefully someday my son will talk about these days like he lived them himself along with the knowledge of the Steel Curtain also. That's kinda the same way it is to be a Steelers fan I guess. Eventhough I wasn't there it's like I was when I read about them and watch them on NFL Films and stuff and had my dad tell me a lot about them because the Steel Curtain was the team of his generation eventhough he was a Cowgirls fan.

I've been thinking of looking it up myself but I don't want to get on the wrong side of Myron. LOL. I also want to know. My guess was Mr. Rooney but I think that's not right.

Just put a pair of Steeler suspenders on `em... you`ll be fine...
And if that kid of yours doesn`t wanna watch old cartoons... sumthin`s just wrong with him... try introducing him to the Roadrunner, and Wile E,. Coyote... if he don`t get into that.. he might need therapy...(Sarcasm)...

This is correct. There are many press photos of Swann in #22. He wore the number in camp, but I'm not sure when or why he made the switch to 88.

I never thought THIS would come up...LOL...

I worked at Disneyland for three years, when I was in high school and college. My Disneyland/Steelers connections:

1986: I was working an emergency shift on a Monday Night, Columbus Day, when Bubby Brister made his debut against the Bengals. That night I was working in Fantasyland, where there is a break room in the basement. It was dead that night, so I kept sneaking down to watch the game.

1987: Opening weekend, Steelers beat 49ers, listened to much of the game behind Carnation Gardens on Main Street.

That's AWESOME that you worked there! We have annual passes to Disneyworld and went 3 times this year. We've never went to DisneyLAND but I'm sure we enventually will. Our membership in the Disney Vacation Club allows us to go there. My whole thing with DisneyLAND is that it's basically just that park and California Adventure and then I don't think we would have much to do. I'm sure you've probably been to both parks (Orlando and California) and I would love to hear your opinion on which you like better and why. Most folks say the Cali park is much smaller and that's why they don't like it as much. Even Walt himself said they lacked the land to do all the things they wanted to do in CA. I love using my imagination in how things are done so I wouldn't wanna know any behind the scenes stuff but I'd love to know your thoughts on CA vs FL.

Ben needs only 507 yards to become the all time passing yardage leader in steeler history, so it appears he will be the new all time bomber for the steelers, he should break that record within the next two games, just another milestone for big Ben to go along with the many he already has....
