I googled it but couldnt find my answers.

Has Justin Layne played any defensive snaps yet? If so how has he looked and how has he looked on special teams?

Can’t remember him ever playing a defensive snap. Nelson and Haden have been available all the time and there were very few garbage time snaps available in 2019 or to date this season because every game has been a nail biter. Sutton and Hilton are also ahead of him in the depth chart, so I don’t think his lack of snaps is a sleight on his ability.

He is good on special teams, fast and can tackle, big guy too at 6’2. Hopefully one for the future whenever Haden moves aside

He played in 3 defensive snaps vs Cleveland. Didn't notice him so I guess that's a good thing. The site I checked didn't list any other defensive snaps for the season. He's played mostly on special teams this year 78 plays. The Steelers have the luxury of letting him develop properly.

He's still on the team and contributing. So not wasted.

Possibly. He was a project when drafted. My analysis and criticism of that draft has been spot on.

He has 4 good CBs ahead of him, he will be needed in 2021, it's a good thing they don't need him to play now.

How is Justin Layne a wasted draft choice?! For that matter, we do not even know how well Layne has improved or regressed due to COVID 19 wiping out the NFL Preseason. Way too much speculation there.

For me, he has the athletic and physical traits to succeed. He was very raw coming out of college. He still likely is and will continue to need improvement there. No need to rush him.

We do not need another "Artie Burns" here with Layne. Keep him on the sidelines to learn more. By 2021, he should be ready.

Development development. Lane converted from WR to DB in college. He came out of school early. Tomlin believed the growth he showed from the 1st half of his rookie season to the 2nd half in practice left him optimistic about Lane's growth this season. Unfortunately, we didn't have a preseason so Lane could be evaluated in game situations.

One of the talking heads suggested we should trade Layne and a mid-round draft pick for Dwayne Haskins. Would you pull the trigger?

No thank you. Layne might be a good player at a premium position yet. If Haskins was any good Washington wouldn’t be trading him. Rivera knows a good player from a bad one

I haven't noticed Layne on STs but I have noticed Pierre. He looks big and fast.

These proposals seem to be what is best for Haskins. What is best for the Steelers imo is to keep their players + draft picks. Mason has showed enough to compete with Darnold or Haskins (they all are meh) to be the project behind Ben.
