    It's time to take Diontae off punt returns, let Ray Ray handle it.

    "It's definitely super cool and an achievement I will remember," said Claypool. "It doesn't really affect my mindset going into the game. You have to enjoy it for a little bit and then forget about it and keep focused on what you are doing and prepare for the Browns...Confidence definitely builds with games like that, but I am not trying to act any different because of performances. I think that is when you stop being humble. I am just trying to stay the same as I have been."

    Okay. I officially love this kid.

    Hey Chase, my daughter is single.

    Chase Claypool has one thing that JuJu does not; freakish athleticism. Ju Ju is a very good athlete. However, so are many Cornerbacks; especially those in our division. To win against the top tier Corners like Jalen Ramsey, Tre'Davious White, Stephen Gilmore and the AFC Norths own Marlon Humphrey, you need a "Thermonuclear Option".

    Chase is that and now is becoming more.

    Hey steelersrule6.

    Yes, Claypool has been very impressive up to this point. Most definitely. I am extremely happy with what he has done up to now. Given that, I want to see a larger sample size before I start "labeling" players. Nonetheless, he potentially looks to be a real good one.

    I had Claypool down as one of our key weapons in the arsenal before he even took a snap. Like I have state numerous times here, we have so many Offensive weapons and Ben is just starting to get back to his old self. That is potentially dangerous in a good way. Think about when he fully returns to his complete healthy form and gets fully acclimated with the new guys: Claypool, Ebron, J McFarland, McCloud and D. Johnson (Ben played very little with before getting hurt) and fully re-acclimated with the "old" guys: JuJu, Washington, Conner, McDonald (I want to see more of this guy, he is "Punishing"). I also think Ben is getting re-acclimated with the O-Line to a degree. And there too. So far, so good.

    Now, I disagree he can be as dominant as Julio Jones as of now. However, to say that he can become a Top Ten Wideout in Football by his third, if not second season, is not too far of a stretch here. As I said in the 2020 NFL Draft Thread, Claypool's ceiling is LIMITLESS.

    There is literally ZERO athletic limitations to his game. My biggest questions was the mental aspect of the NFL level. Seems to me that he is already getting it. Here is something else....

    From the Cleveland Browns Official Website:

    "Four Browns, all of whom did not practice this week, were ruled out: G Wyatt Teller (calf), S Ronnie Harrison Jr. (concussion), S Karl Joseph (hamstring) and LB Jacob Phillips (knee)."

    That Mapletron has to go. Going to try and make this one stick. Stompintron!! There used to be a popular singer in Canada Stompin Tom Connors, he used to sing The Hockey song. They could do so many things with this. Artists could draw him Stomping on teams or other players, could do some funny celebrations. I tweeted this idea to him. Let's see what happens

    I will admit that I thought we couldve got him in the 3rd and rookie highsmith in the 4th. But it look like a good rookie class. It also look like they all will get to participate except for Antoine Brooks jr

    My biggest gripe today was not involving Claypool. He fumbled but recovered and basically didn’t see him after that. Didn’t see him much before that either.

    DJ had 15 targets, JuJu 14, siphon off a couple from each and at least give Claypool a chance to do some damage. He’s shown he can do a lot with a little.

    Hopefully today was just a result of game script. Think you will need him more involved next week.

    I think the Johnson will be the key to the Steelers WR group for the remainder of this season if he can stay healthy.

    As I told you in the GDT, Tennessee made it a point to not allow Claypool beat them. That in turn is what caused his drop in production. Considering that Baltimore has three deep on Corner in Marlon Humphrey, Marcus Peters and Jimmy Smith, chances are he will likely attract attention again.

    Things will get harder for Chase without question. How he responds will be interesting. More so though, how Big Ben responds is something to monitor as well.

    They had their best CB shadow him and went bracket coverage as well ... We need to be better prepared for that and stack him in the bunch, run him on the single side opposite the bunch, put him in the slot , run twin WR'S and put him and Ebron on the same side ..Lots of adjustments could have been made I didn't see it happen ..

    Exactly, they we’re getting creative with his touches in previous games and in this game with the coverage on him they didn’t do any of that except for one jet sweep.

    He’s too dynamic to not get him involved.

    PPF had that matchup as 10% in Claypool favor. PWP says they were bracketing him, I could see that slowing him down.

    That pretty much was the plan for the Titans! Take out Chase Claypool. I would say for them it was mission accomplished.

    Now, will Chase rebound?! We shall soon see. Marlon Humphrey and Marcus Peters are arguably the best duo of Corners in Football.

    The offense should also use RayRay. Put him in the diamond with Ebron,Mcdonald, and Chase in front of him in the Diamond with DJ wide opposite use the WR screen to RayRay basically a punt return with huge bodies in front.When they adjust go to DJ backside 1 on 1 then when they start cheating up to stop the WR punt return then send Claypool and Ebron down the field and let Mcdonald work the middle .. This Team has tons of talent we should be able to expose Defenses in multiple ways...

    With Claypool emerging as a weapon why have Johnson and Washington been so horrible? Call me crazy but it's starting to look like Ben doesn't want to throw to them.

    Big Ben is a creature of the moment. If Big Ben can establish some form of connection with a Wide Receiver, he will continually throw them the ball. I doubt it has much to do with the performance of either Diontae or James.

    Keep in mind that Baltimore's secondary is the best one in the NFL. Big Ben got clamped down to under 200 yards. The Ravens secondary is ridiculously good.

    Johnson hasn't been horrible, he had 2 TDs against the Titans, and his nagging injuries are a big reason for his inconsistency. Washington doesn't get enough targets, but he's mostly reliable.

    Just a gut feel but I think he is the odd man out when it comes to the WR group.

    He is reckless with the ball and he looks upset that he isnt the star.

    Just a gut feel.

    WR catch rate (not including the Ravens game) :

    JuJu = 76%
    Claypool = 72%
    Washington = 63%
    Johnson = 59%

    We are tied for 3rd in the NFL for most passes dropped as a team.
    Neither Washington or Johnson are among the top 50 WR's in receiving yards or catches.
    ....granted none of our WR's are lighting it up but clearly Claypool and JuJu are our primary WR's and both clearly have the most dependable hands and ability to go get a ball that's not perfect....and they are showing much better skills with the ball after the catch. Chase's fumbling though could ruin his rookie season really fast if he doesn't clean it up.

    I think it's fair to say both have been a disappointment. Route mistakes and dropped balls happen every week with these two. I was fully expecting a break out year for one of these guys. Ben is looking for his TE and 2 primary WR's before going to these guys. Hopefully over the next few weeks we can start establishing our passing game. I'd like to see us start opening things up a little bit. Allowing Ben to run the offense worked yesterday but I think the main reason we don't run more no huddle was due to the inexperienced WR's.
