The league may have screwed the pooch here, as well as the Steelers.

My guess is they have a formula to figure playoff seedings, if it comes to that. Probably something similar to what you stated, with many variables taken into account to keep it 'fair'.

Oh wow, you still have a lot of faith in the league. I don't know how you could watch what transpired this week and still believe. They had 5 months to prepare for this season and apparently have no plan to get these games in. But they have some complex formula to figure out playoff seedings?

Right now, 3 weeks have been played (49 games I think), 2 games have been rescheduled. A couple lightning storms could cause the same result during a 'normal' season. I'm not panicking yet.
I'm not sure how complex of a formula they would need to seed teams. Win percentage, division record, conference record, ect.

Rescheduling games just leads to more rescheduled games and more upheaval. They are just kicking the can down the road.

A forfeit is a loss in the books and the season goes on as scheduled.

It's simple. It puts the fear of contracting the virus even more on the players/staff. It is a direct punishment for not taking this seriously.

The reason the NFL doesn't forfeit is because they have TV contracts. It's not about safety. It's about money.

one guy one each side vs 16 at last count. Apples/oranges.

that said, scheduling the game for monday says safety is NOT the first thing on their minds. maybe they told the pats not to travel until after 12pm tomorrow and they have to run another batch of tests first - one can only hope. But 1 day to see if it has spread further is NOT safety or smart.

I thought the same thing about baseball once the Marlins and Cardinals were forced to postpone games, but they managed to work it out. Maybe the NFL will start playing 2 quarter doubleheaders..lol

Tomlin addresses what I was referring to:
Q: "Mike, is there any event in place that you're aware of in the event that teams can't all play 16 games?"
A: "I'm not aware of any developing plans, I know we had hypothetical conversations during the summer for such an event so I know they have things in place in terms of playoff tiering if we move in that direction."

I'll post the video but it only plays on Youtube. The question is asked at 5:08.

Gilmore has tested positive now. It was stupid to play the game. They needed more time to make sure no one else had it. Now it's too late.

Destination Lake Sabrina? Prepare to wear both your Covid and smoke masks. Most days are horrid now in the Owens and adjoining valleys. I'll be back at my cabin in Phelan still clearing out on the 12th. We'll wave as we pass along 395. Have fun SS.
