If it team friendly I have no problems with it. But, you can't over spend.

It not just on James, his health history etc.

But, I think the NFL just doesn't value the RB position that high, being that the longevity at the position, low cost of a Rookie to year 4 or year or year 5 guys.

They hate to throw that big money 2nd contract unless your that Derrick Henry, Ezikel Elliot type back.

Thats why you see elite running backs who hit year 3 or 4 and out perform their rookies deals they want to hold out, being the longevity at position isn't there.

I'm sure the Steelers are planning on going with Snell and McFarland next year, with Samuels and perhaps a draft pick. If they can get Conner at a reasonable rate, fantastic, but I can't see giving him a big contract even if he does put up big numbers this season. He just can't be trusted to stay healthy.

Some of that will depend on Snell getting over his fumbling problem and McFarland showing more of what he can do. I don't think Samuels should have a big role going forward. He has regressed.

There's no way we can afford Conner. He not only runs with the ball, he also blocks. And he catches some passes. That makes him a running back AND a tight end and will want to get paid double for playing 2 positions. Its not out of greed but he wants to reset the running back market pay for a RBs. And of course he also wants his jersey number changed to 26.

Conner is clearly the Steelers best all around back at this time. I think Conner stays if the Steelers can reach a reasonable deal with him. Kind of similar to how they dealt with Willie Parker.

I hope you are joking. If Henry could not reset the market JC wont be able to either. Carolina paid McCaffery and no doubt he might be worth it, yet his injury shows how vulnerable that position is.

I would have to say yes, if the asking price is not top dollar. He is productive when healthy, and when he is not (which is unfortunately often), run Snell et al.

Just a question for the anti Tonkin folks. Who would you rather have that isn’t an HC for contender? Maybe we could get one of the 27 coaches Cleveland has had in the last 6 years. Maybe a Raider cast off. CMT isn’t my favorite Steeler coach of my lifetime (there been 3) but we could do a heck of a lot worse.

A huge hometown discount will be necessary. That being said I think JC
will go to the highest bidder for his services.

Very proud of our team only having 3 HC's in half a century and I want Tomlin to stay longer. As an a announcer said for a Tiger Woods putt, "better then most, better then most".

Noll got bitched about (only in papers, no social media back then) Cowher got bitched about and Tomlin will get bitched about. I know Patriot fans who bitched about Billy boy. Remember he once was the Cleveland Browns Coach.

Let Conner walk, then when LeVeon is released by the Jets sign him to a vet minimum :hehehe:.

Tonka is a joke. He's always playing with his trucks. Why we've kept him this long is ridiculous. Freaking Tonka.

LeVeon doesn't seem interested in playing the game just cashing in on his potential.
    Conner suits up. :rawk:

Did you see Gase's press conference last night? He has given up. Their defense is shi**y about it.

There's no reason to resign a questionable RB when you can either draft his replacement or find one in free agency.

I don't blame Bell for not wanting to play for the Jets, they're terrible.

He has to take the offer with the highest guaranteed money. He knows he is waking a tight rope.

I still say yes, resign James.
JuJu's replacement can be had in the 3rd round.
