outside linebackers

    Is there any good young outside linebackers out there that we might trade for??. Just wondering, highhly doubtfull we would even if there was.. :godell:

    For my money, the only tradeable young OLBs out there will be at the same stage as the rest of our young LB corps - that is, promising but yet to unleash full potential. If they were more than that, why would anyone trade them?

    They should give Shawn Merriman a look, he's still a free agent i believe. Nice short term solution for this year.

    i thought the same till i saw that the niners took another unknown in fron of him , but a try out cost nothing

    I think we have to stay with a 3-4 for this year and maybe go hybrid next year if we can get the players to help the transition. It seems like we "went to the well" one too many times with our D. Kind of like, "Hey, we're close...let's go for it again before we say goodbye" You have to know when to hold 'em - know when to fold 'em. I just don't see enough backups play to know what we have in waiting. Frustrating but I understand.

    I also think it's risky relying on Casey to anchor the line. I don't see his knee holding up all year, especially with the low hits at the knees of players - our players - recently.

    As a fan, I hope we can continue to be competitive during any transition necessary to turn things around as a team.
