I'm getting ready to go cut trees this weekend for firewood and every year I start I remember an ex Steelers who had one fall on him while trying to shoo his dog away as it was falling. Steve Courson
    http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2220019

Wasn't it Justin Strelzyk that died in that high speed police chase?

Anybody have any what ever happened to stories of ex Steelers during this bye week? Something to pass the time.

I know Jack Lambert went on to work for the PA game commison after he retired. Tell me you wouldn't be scared to death if he came across you in the woods and you were breaking the law!

He also has 3 daughters. Anybody think their boyfriends would fool around on the first dates? If he said home by 11, I would have them home by 10:30 sharp.

I think he still DOES work for them. Someone that I ran into recently told me that they came across him in a trip they made to a state park in PA recently.

Edmund Nelson, aside from being on TV is an insurance agent. And when I lived in Bridgeville Bryan Hinkle lived on the street behind me. Not sure what he does now, but we lived in a modest neighborhood built in the late 50s of homes that were in the 1200-1600 sqft range. Not where you'd think an ex Steeler...albeit he played in the early/mid 80s....would live. I used to see him when I'd go on walks all of the time. Never bothered him, but he was still a pretty big dude.

And speaking of still being pretty big, I saw Mel Blount at a car dealer in Peters a few years ago (runs his youth home in Claysville). He still looks he could suit up and play.

Based on Lewis and Mundy it would be a return to the glory days to have Mel come back right now. As a matter of fact lets just give him the veteran minimum.

I guess Neil O'Donnel (however you spell that scum sucking mules name) is still enjoying his payout for the 2 int in the superbowl. :frustrated: :frustrated:

Rocky Bleir was my fav back in the 70s. Anybody know what happened to him? How bout Jack Ham? Didnt know until Monday night that Kevin Green was in Green Bay as a coach.

He is, in his own words, a 'professional dad' in Charlotte. Which sounds like an ok job to me...

    Levon Kirkland..
He was my favorite Steeler during that time.
Reliable, durable, physical, smart. He was a beast.

Im pretty sure Rocky Bleir is a motivational speaker now. I could be wrong. But what I do know is that he still live in Mt Lebanon. He lives a few houses away from a couple that goes to my church. When they moved in they said that Rocky and his wife stopped over to introduce themselves and welcome them to the 'hood.

I've also seen Louis Lipps a few times. Not sure what he's doing now, but he's still a regular at Steelers games and has seats in the Club East section. I've got a long winded story about drinking with him at the Cleveland game last year, but won't bore everyone with the whole thing. The way he was dressed  not what you'd expect from an explayer, but rather a drunken homer yinzer. Overall he was a pretty cool guy though.

Mel definitely looks like he could still hurt someone. I wouldn't F with him thats for sure. And he's more than 20 years older than me.

My favorite defensive guy during that time was Kevin Greene. Didn't he wrestle in WCW for a while with Steve McMichael? I know he's in Green Bay now but since you named your fave from that time I thought I would too. KG just seemed like someone it would be fun to hang around.

Claysville Pa just outside of Washington, Pa. About 45 minutes from Pittsburgh. Not sure if actually lives in Claysville (I'd actually be surprised since it is total a poor, backwoods, redneck, racist place) but Im guessing he's not far from there. Probably not much further than northern Washington/ southern Allegheny county.

He's been running a youth home in Claysville for probably 25 years:

Roy Gerela was the first insurance agent I ever had back in the mid 80's. His office had all kinds of Steelers pictures on the wall.

He's in KY. I have a good friend who works at a car dealership that sold Kirkland a Cadillac Escalade. My friend got his autograph for me. Pretty cool.

He and Tommy Maddox ought to get together and form their own agency, Maddox-Gerela Insurance, your friendly All-State agents.

I used to work with a guy whose dad was a business partner of Jack Ham. Some kind of coal mining venture I believe.
