Is if they beat themselves and turn the ball over 4 or 5 times. Other then Barkley on offense the Giants just don’t have much in this game to win. Daniel Jones doesn’t impress me much and The Steelers D is just too good, and with Ben being back and hungry to get going and play well I just can’t see the Giants winning barring a complete and total meltdown.

The bottom line is this would be a terrible loss if the Steelers don’t win this game period there is no other way to say it. If you plan on having a chance to overtake the Ravens and win this division and make some noise in the playoffs and challenge for the Super Bowl like a lot of people are saying and predicting you absolutely better and have to win this game period no excuses.

I don't worry about limiting Barkley. The defense will show up and execute. I worry about the comedy of errors the offense will probably be tonight. If the Steelers can establish the run and not get too pass happy... chances of victory are much better. If Ben tries to get too fancy, it's gonna get ugly.

Yea I agree I don’t need to see Ben shake all the rust off tonight and throw for 400 plus yards. Just play well, manage the game, don’t try and get too cute and don’t turn the ball over and the Steelers shouldn’t have any problems. I worry about Coach Randy’s horrible play calling and Ben trying to do way too much.

I rarely think we will win for sure but tonight I do. A loss would devastate me. I'm sure they will do some things that will piss us off but they should be able to overcome a few mistakes. I see at least one fumble and one INT. but the Giants should have a few turnovers too.

Agree that Ben needs to keep it relatively simple. If they avoid turnovers and just take what the Giants defence gives them I think they should win this one relatively easily.

Giants are not good on defence in particular and I think the Steelers pass rush is going to cause Jones all sorts of problems. You never know in this league of course, but there really is no excuse if they lose this one.

Primetime Ben with a good defense vs a bad team? It’s 2020 I wouldn’t be shocked if we get blown out lol

People are underselling that Giants Interior Defensive Line. Dexter Lawrence is a young player on the rise. He made a big impact last season for them. Leonard Williams is still a high quality player and Dalvin Tomlinson is no joke.

I concur with @HeinzMustard@HeinzMustard regarding today's game. Pittsburghs Defense is the least of my concerns. The Offensive Line though, is where my questions lie.

The only way the Steelers lose a game against a team they shouldn't is if they continue what they do every year when they lose to a team they shouldn't

Their interior line is good, pass rush and secondary, not so much. I don’t believe the Giants are anyway near the finished article on defence. Yes it will be a test for a new look interior O line but I think it’s one they can handle.

If this Giants defence can stop the Steelers then I’ll be dialling down my expectations for this season dramatically.

I did not say their Defense was finished. All I am saying is that this game is not so one sided as some make it out to be. Again, Pittsburgh's Interior Offensive Line will be challenged early and often. The sooner they gel during the game, the better.

If the Giants score more than 14 on our defense, we're in trouble, and not just for this game. Being notoriously slow starters, our offense shouldn't hit on all cylinders. And that's okay because our defense should. Our defense should show up tonight looking like the defense we'll see the rest of the year, barring injury. If it can't hold up against the Giants, the entire season is in jeopardy. I don't see that happening. I'd say we score at least 17 on offense, add another 7 on defense, and give up 10. 24-10 Stillers.

    Heythorn058.

Here were are again, with a supposed "shoo-in" win for the taking. HOWEVER, we know this story too well under Tomlin. Now, there are some "built-in" excuses in case it does not turn out the way we expect and in all honesty the way it "should" happen:

    • Ben's rustiness.
    • Lack of chemistry building with the "O". Specifically, Ben working with the "O".
    • The Steelers historical "slow start".
    • And of course, the worst of them all, our "playing down" to our competition.
This is a team with a nice "Blend" of veterans and Young players. In addition we have a "Well-Seasoned" Coaching Staff.

No win here is completely unacceptable. Yet, not totally unexpected unfortunately. In addition, we need to start making statements when we win. I am envisioning a Defense that is capable of pitching numerous shutouts this season. This is the most complete "D" (minus Samuels) that I have seen since the 70s. This defense is complete from top to bottom, very solid. Again, minus Samuels who needs to step it up now in what? Year #3?

Back to the "O" and the infamous "We can score 30 points per game" comments from yester-year. Remember that (SMILE). Yes, this "O" is built for that. The weapons we have are strong, diverse and bountiful. The only thing that would impede this "O" from reaching that goal, on a consistent basis, would be injuries and mismanagement of personnel. Honestly, I am more worried about the latter.

And if we win it needs to be decisive. I know a win is a win. I get it. In the end 2-0 gets the job done. However, it really does not send a message. Again this is a very, very, "Complete Team" overall. Both "O" and "D". The most complete that I have seen in decades. Seriously. We are that good on paper. Now, is the time to make it materialize.

    It is time for:
    • The Organization to get #7 for themselves and us the fans.
    • Ben to "possibly" go riding off into the sunset on a great note (?).
    • Tomlin to prove to us how good he really can be.

Your point is well made, Giants have invested heavily there, I do think they are much better against the run than as a disruptive force against the pass though. As an aside, Conner and Snell may find it tough sledding tonight with all those big guys in the middle. It’ll be interesting to see how they fare running the ball.

This may sound cliche because it’s week one, but this is a must win game.

    KC will dominate the AFC
Baltimore shows no signs of slowing down
How are the Bills, do the Cheats stay competitive?

There are few chances in the schedule to make up for a loss tonight. Any plans to have this team go deep into the playoffs begins with a W tonight.

It’s week one, it’s also an opportunity to put one in the win column and build some early season momentum. Gotta keep pace with the class of the AFC.

The loss of DeCastro for tonight is a concern. I want to see a balanced attack and not Ben trying to sand lot the night. The Defense should be on point.

If you have been a Steelers fan for any length of time you know you cannot sit comfortably and watch them decimate any team or even win against those teams they should. It's been far too long.

This game, like probably all of this year's games revolve around Ben.

The addition of Ben should open up the running game as teams will have to defend the pass, unlike last year.

However, even with Ben the running game hasn't been great, mostly because the focus is more on passing with Ben playing.

Tonight I'm concerned about the play of the don't expect the OL to be great due to Decastro being out.

A list of reason the Steelers could lose:

    1. Ben gets hurt.
    2. Tomlin is Tomlin
    3. Futchner talks to Ben
However, I predict Ben will not get hurt and that will overcome Tomlin and Futchner

I concur. I have us at a 4-5 seed for the Playoffs. I've given the division to the Ravens but I'm thinking second place is ours. When you only play 16 games they are all very important unless it's end of season game and team has clinched Playoff seed.
