Sounds like a name that would have gotten you picked on as a kid.

Sounds like a name that would make the other rb's think they're not valued. How many rb's do we need? Especially one who rushed for 81 yards last season in 15 games and has never rushed for over 400 yards in a season in his career. Great pickup, we've now got an additional 21 yards on the ground per game.

I do wonder about Conner opting out. We have already seen one cancer survivor opt out his season, Marcus Cannon of the Patriots.

Could be in case Conner opts out, or just a look see as he had decent numbers at WVU in running and catching the ball. Also some experience as a kick returner. With no preseason games the low picks and undrafted FA's are going to have a really hard time making heads turn. A guy like this they at least have some Video on, and if there are injuries he can be readily available to fill a hole, even a small one.

If you think Smallwood would be able to fill a hole, you may be over estimating his size.

Reminds me of the time the Bengals had a lot of players named Johnson, we had a lot of Willie's. I posted something like our Willies are far more productive than any cincy Johnson ever could be..:)

You two might be on to something. But Conner? I can see it as a physical decision. That makes sense. But mentally, I don't see him doing that. He just seems too committed to this. I could be wrong.

I don't doubt his commitment for a second, but it wouldn't be a sign of a lack of commitment if he put his own safety ahead of playing this season. He has faced his own mortality in a way most NFL players have not. That has got to affect his thinking, too.

Conner has already said he isn't opting out. Smallwood had some decent special teams numbers, maybe that's why he was brought in?

Thankfully in the history of the Steelers nothing bad has ever happened by signing a free agent running back from the Eagles!

I mean last time led to a fifth ring for Joe's thumb.

Given who his rb coach was in Philadelphia I'm betting he looks pretty smooth in a sweat suit.

According to Connor, he’s not opting out:

Though I agree that sitting out in his situation - or anyone’s tbh - isn’t about commitment, but his judgment on his own safety.

Have them all play at the weather station in Antarctica. No one leaves the island. Frost bitten knees will high on the disable list.
