Feel free to add any you come across. The more players that join in opting out, the likelier Cam will do the same. Signing Smalls makes me think a RB will be opting out.

Baltimore Ravens: KR De'Anthony Thomas, OL Andre Smith

    Buffalo Bills: DT Star Lotulelei

Dallas Cowboys: CB Maurice Canady, WR Stephen Guidry

    Houston Texans: DT Eddie Vanderdoes

Kansas City Chiefs: OL Laurent Duvernay-Tardif

New England Patriots: LB Dont'a Hightower, FB Dan Vitale, RB Brandon Bolden, OL Najee Toran

New Orleans Saints: TE Cole Wick

    Seattle Seahawks: OL Chance Warmack

I read a tweet that said the Patriots were at 6 players that have opted out Chung being one of them. I wouldn't be surprised if the McCourty that I quoted yesterday opts out too.

Minnesota Vikings: DT Pierce opting out.

Patrick Chung is as well. That makes the total for the New England Patriots six.

Keep in mind that the players opting out are already financially secured. Cameron Heyward is one of them. That said, if he sits out, our Interior Defensive Line is in SERIOUS TROUBLE.

That said, I will respect and admire his decision. He deserves to opt out as he is a father with his own family. As I have stated before, why risk one's life with a family to tend to?!?!

I think with most of these guys decision that is exactly what it is, not wanting to expose their family to it. What are they going to do, be sequestered the whole season.

I just saw a list of players opting out so far (according to ESPN), I'll try to find it. I think it was 20+ players in total, so far.

Offensive tackle Marcus Cannon is the other member of the Patriots to opt out who hasn't been mentioned on this thread yet.

I would think his money situation tied into his decision, as one of his teammates pointed out (if I'm understanding how contracts are going to work for players who opt out).

This is crazy but good for them. If a season plays out fully, the healthiest not best team may be champions

And someone on here was incredulous when I said I fully expect there to be more after the Chiefs lineman opted out. Seemed obvious.

Did I hear of at least 6 NE patriots are opting out? Quick question, do they still get paid?

They get paid either $150k or $350k depending on their status. Their contract will toll

The Pats now have nearly $30m in cap space with all their opt outs

High risk opt outs will still accrue a season so if Cam Heyward decides not to play he will still be a free agent next year

Saw where one NFL exec thinks Dark Hoodie is pulling strings behind the scenes to play the system for a loaded team the following season. If enough opt-out, he gains salary cap space and could sign free agents for 2020 and/or rework/extend contracts to build a team for the long term instead of overinvesting in a 2020 season that might not even happen.

I don’t get it? How does that help him for next season when all those contract will be back on the books? It only gains him cap space this season and what superstar players are available that he could sign now?

"I don't know. That's why he is who he is."

If there's anyone who could find a way to get a leg up on the rest of the NFL, it's Dark Hoodie.

Part of me is hoping the season is canceled. I’m not sure how much of these guys political and social opinions I’m gonna be able to take before I opt out

There isn't enough political crap that will ever get me to stop watching football, after the first couple of weeks it will probably die down.

Watching pro football or any pro sport for me is purely about entertainment. When it stops being entertaining, I'm going to find something else to be entertained by. The NFL is walking the line on whether or not it is entertaining enough for me to waste brain power on.

I don't find it at all difficult to tune out the political stuff and focus on football. I tune out the politics just like I tune out the commercials.

Especially since there is nothing political going on once the game starts.
