Overheard a conversation between older Eagle fans trying to name all there Head Coaches the past 50 years. Got me thinking of our boys. We have had a grand total of 3 HC's in 50 years.

Could it be possible that of the 4 major sports in our country we have had the fewest HC's of any team in the past 50 years????

No way I am looking all that up but I think it's a real possibility that the Pittsburgh Steelers have had the fewest amount of HC's the past 50 years. And all were loved by all on the board.:thumbs up:

Interesting question. I know we're quite a way ahead of other NFL teams - next fewest is Seahawks (7) and Cowboys (8).

Couldn't find anything on specifics, but this article has some interesting charts about the average length of tenure across different sporting leagues.

    https://www.businessinsider.com/coa...-mlb-nba-nhl-premier-league-2016-12?r=US&IR=T

According to their data, the NFL has on average the longest tenures of head coaches in comparison to NHL, MLB, NBA and English Premier League. So logically, that might suggest you're on to something...

If you throw college in the equation, the Nittany Lions have to be up there as well.

If you want to hear an all day conversation, listen to a Charger fan try to list all their head coaches since the merger!:hehehe:

We may end up with three for eternity as Tomlin will never be fried and when he retires with a .500 record in 2031 the Steelers will retire the position of head coach and never have another one. It will be called "Rooney Rule part deux"

George Halas was the head coach of the bears for 40 years, a record that will probably never be broken for longest tenured nfl coach, it probably helped that he owned the team but still that was a feat and the fans never complained about his coaching abilities............

A female coach should be on the agenda anytime now. Will you be able to endure Stone?

Oh for **** sake! But, you are probably right:shrug:

Why isn't there a mandate to have an oriental coach? Or a Hispanic coach? Or a left handed midget Norwegian coach?

Asian and Hispanic would be covered under the Rooney rule. As for the last, Boomer already has a job!

Rooney Rule part deux...#2? Deuce? Drop a deuce? Poop?

Yes, I see your point. Through complex analytical deduction, I can draw the parallel between Tomlin and a piece of crap. Thanks for your part in solidifying my position. I will sleep better at night knowing I've been right all along.

I could easily see the Rooneys hiring the first female head coach. There has been some excellent female head coaches in college basketball, they are capable.

Can they get a xy chromosome to comprehend them would be the hurdle imo.

Nobody is bitching about it because the league isn't comprised of players that are over 70% Asian or Hispanic.

Did some digging on this one. Answer is a resounding yes. Coincidentally enough, the next closest team is the Seattle Seahawks with 7 since that span among professional sports. After them, the Dallas Cowboys with 8. Regarding Hockey, Baseball and Basketball, San Antonio after that with 11. Keep in mind though that no other Professional Team Sport in North America sees more turnover than the NBA. Baseball is next followed by hockey.

Oddly enough though, dating back to 1969, the Pittsburgh Pirates have only had 11 Managers.

    We’ve finished 8-8 three times in Tomlin’s 13 seasons.
