Am I the only one who is becoming so disgusted by the amount of money these athletes are getting, that I consider not watching sports. My irrational love of the Steelers is so, that I doubt I could do it. This isn't a kneejerk reaction to the Mahomes deal, I have been feeling this way for a few years now.

Their are only two pockets that all our money can go in. Owners or Players

It's our fault really, propping it up...

Edit: Three pockets, government skims off the top.

I’ve never had a problem with it. It’s obscene but that’s the market they are in. It’s not like they are taking the money from school teachers, police, firefighters, etc to pay athletes.

They added a luxury tax (hotels, food, other tourist expenses) to build the stadium for P. Manning in Indianapolis. All of Indiana pays it although the rural areas could care less about attending games.

Indiana also added one cent to the sales tax to pay for the Hoosier Dome back in 1984 or so. People today still pay that one cent added to the sales tax.

Indeed. All the TV revenue from us watching it and the ridiculous ticket prices that we pay have created this monster.

And say what you will about Jerry Jones but at least he built his stadium without tax money. Even the Rooney's played that "we'll move the team" and we fell for it.

AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, is my pick for most cynical public spending. $325 million of the $1.3 billion stadium cost came from taxpayers' money.

Owners should pay for their stadiums, agree with that.

Do we ***** when movie stars, singers, entertainers are making this huge amount
of money? How about CEO's making 10-11 mill a year and their company's going
    down the drain?

Teams are now worth billions isn't that a little out of control, j jones buys the cowboys for 140 million and they are worth 5 billion now, so the players are getting big contracts isn't it all relevant??

I've pretty much felt that way since A-rod got his 25 million a year deal. It's just as ridiculous almost 20 years later.

How much will one-n-done Lamar think he is worth? :roflmao:
Hairball must be getting in the way. :roflmao:

Kordell Stewart managed to go 5-4 in the playoffs in 4 appearances. Yep, I'm talking about ho-hum Slash.

Posted for the out of control Raisin nuthuggers.

A team's value is much different from a players contract though. For that matter, quite a bit of a teams value can depend on the Owner and what they do. Jerry Jones has been, and still is, HELL BENT on making the Dallas Cowboys as the only team that matters not just in the NFL but the whole world.

Thankfully, more often than not, that does not translate into success.

Lamar will likely match or even exceed Patrick's Contract. Lamar has performed well up to his Draft slot at pick 32. For that matter, he has exceeded expectations. He will get paid.

How much being fully guaranteed though is a bigger question all together.

I'm sure he will get paid. Is a QB that can't win when it counts worth $25 mil? Cowher had a theory about QBs if I recall.
