Honestly, I can't take all the negative threads. I feel bad enough from the loss, I can't read through all the BS. People want to jump ship, let them. This is meant to be a positive thread about how this team regains it identity and gets back in the win column.

    1. Running game offense- Mendy returning to the field is the obvious improvement. But should he not be able to return right away, I would like to see us feature Redman. Right now it seems as though it is running back by committee. All rb's seem to be doing equally as bad. Maybe if Mendy gets 15-20 carries during a game he will break a few and get the ypc up. No serious running game contributes to offensive woes in the 4th quarter when the defense ignores the run and just plays the pass.

    2. Running game defense - It seems as though the OLB's over pursue all the time being out of position to stop the run. We're also vulnerable to the swing pass, which is an extension of the running game.

    3. Pressure - we have none. Haven't seen many corner blitzes, maybe that's because our secondary has their hand so full that the coaches can't risk it.

    4. Secondary coverage - we haven't seen Ryan Clark and Troy P on the field at the same time yet. I believe this makes a big difference. Hopefully the bye will help.

    5. Refs - they are just too darn inconsistent. Week 2 there seemed to be a lot of cb's fighting the wr's all the way down the field and it wasn't being called. Now on week 3, it was being called, except that only against the Steelers. This is where owners, Rooneys taking a lead role, need to tell Goodell to get the job done. As for the regular refs, each week they don't participate, they are losing any raise they hope to get.

i was more fired up then i ever get after a loss sunday and knew i shouldn't have got on here. i want to let anyone i may have offended know i'm truely sorry. the refs had me so mad i couldn't believe it. i don't get mad at refs often. i was burning then, though.

we have to fix the o-line for the year. we have to be able to run the ball. that is the only part holding this offense back.

Sorry redman has done absolutely nothing to warrant being a feature back. If mendy is ready he should get the bulk of the carries.

It doesn't matter if the offense puts up 50 pts a game, when our non-existant defense gives up 53.

I wish we had a fiery leader on the sidelines. Someone with piss and vinegar. I miss the spit spewing out of Cowher's mouth. I miss The Chin stuffing a photo of a blown call in the ref's pocket. I miss Peezy firing up the boys. Who ride? We ride! I want some meanness. I want some passion. I want all the players to be ticked off about every single loss and take it personal like I do. Ray Lewis plays for the enemy, but I'm jealous as to the incredible emotional energy he brings to the field every single Sunday. Who is directing our ship?? Some much needed leadership is what we need to get better. Without it, we are straight vanilla.

THIS THIS AND THIIIIIIIS....... I see this as seriously one of our BIGGEST issues. We have no motivation and no leadership it seems. We have no one that rallys the troops. We have a buncha divas that like to dance and act stupid and then the other half is a bunch of quiet old heads that don't seem to get fired up. This is so important to any team. Next off season we need to make some big changes and for the love of god DRAFT A TOP DEFENSIVE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Steelers defense is a bunch of fatcats living off past accomplishments, too busy being on Twitter and Facebook.

I think we get better by one getting healthy. We have yet to have our starting secondary on the field. We are down 3 players at LB which affects depth on special teams etc. Our OL is and continues to be a guess on who can stay healthy, it is a plug and play unit right now. And maybe we never get healthy... The 2nd item is to get more creative on defense. Change things up. Put some of the younger guys in more. Heyward, McClendon, Cortez Allen, Curtis Brown etc. We have some depth at DL there is not a reason our DL should be tired at the end of games. Also allow the DL to be more aggressive. Inside of just holding ground have them push into the backfield. Move players around etc. I am hopeful with this week off we see some of that against the Eagles in two weeks.

I also hope this last loss leaves a real bad taste in the defenses mouth and they come out like the Steelers of old and play with some passion.

Looks at our LB, like Woodley and Worilds. We want them to grow big to stop the run. I'm actually amazed at how Worilds has thickened up. We need to change our philosophy in this pass happy league. Let teams run on you and get quick, elusive guys who can speed bast OL and get to the QB.

If they want to run on us good...like the old Patriot days...they didn't do it often, but everytime Brady handed it off, I was happy because it meant he wasn't throwing it.

I said that Mendy is the answer if he is healthy and can play. The question is, if Mendy is not healthy, then how can we improve the run game? My guess was to feature Redman by giving him the bulk of the carries rather than this running back by committee. You don't agree, but how would you fix it?

I posed this question on Friday, about who was our positive emotional leader like Steve Smith of the Panthers. There was no clear answer, which is why I agree with you that we need an emotional leader for the defense. Does that have to be the coach? No, after all Peezy and Ray guilty Lewis aren't.
