Just getting a chance to log on, and can't bring myself to read all the pages. Not sure if it was mentioned, but that play that hurt Hood, I thought that you couldn't hit low if the guy was already engaged. Looked like a blatant dive at the knees.

Oh well, plenty of other stuff to complain about, just didn't like that cause it seemed intentional, and with intent. Unlike Mundy, who should have been flagged, but had his arms out, so I think he was trying to tackle and unfortunately smacked heads.

I was just getting ready to post something about this. That was absolutely a classic Raider's cheap shot! Hood was engaged with an OL and the blocker went low. That should have been a 15 yard penalty!

Yep, it was dirty and should have been called, but these refs don't know the rules. They miss so many things. It's just brutal.

I thought you were talking about the low hit on Ben, the one below the knees.

Oh, it's definitely a cheap shot. It is legal however if he is engaged. He just can't be engaged by the lineman who isn't directly next to him on the Oline. So, they can do it if the center is engaging him, and the G chops, but not if the Tackle chops. It's tough in the trenches. So much for player safety. <cough>

Also illegal. A player on the ground is not allowed to tackle the legs of the QB. That's the Tom Brady rule. Should have been a flag, but again, the refs don't know the rules.

Absolutely. The refs were bad yet again.

Agree, like I said in my initial post. However, I felt that Mundy, with his arms outstretched, looked like he was trying to hit legally, and unfortunately smacked heads (Still a penalty).

However, the lineman from Oak deliberately dove at Hood's knee, that's what I didn't like.....

It was clearly a chop block, but the raiders only having 3 penalties in a game is so far fetched based on the fact they are the most penalized team in the league, it only highlights the fact these refs were intimidated by raider fans and was scared they would be lucky to get out of there alive after the game if they didnt overlook all the fouls the raiders committed in that game:

Belichick is going to get fined for grabbing a ref after the rat bird game because of the lousy flag happy refereeing in that game, 24 penalties in that game borders on total over officiating and just overall lousy interpretation of the rules, tonight I expect to see another case of bad penalties for minor rule violations, and no penalties for major rule violations. This officiating should be an embarassment for Goodell but he only wants to fine coaches and players for complaining about it, it's time for fans players and coaches to blitz the league office with complaints about this mess the league has created all because they want to bust a Union...

Here is my problem with the Mundy play and the Hood Play:

Both should have been penalized by the refs and they weren't -- but ok, missed calls happen all the time, even with the regular refs. However, the league will drop a fine on Mundy this week, but there will be no punishment at all on the Oakland lineman who dove at the back of Hood's knees, To me, the Mundy hit is not in the least bit deliberate; it's a full speed play and Mundy doesn't know exactly where Bey's head will be when he starts the tackle. In contrast, the Oakland lineman can see that Hood is being engaged and knew exactly where he intended to hit. Doesn't seem right to me.

I understand the legitimate concern about brain injuries, but Hood could well end up missing more time than Bey does.

Now you're sounding like Fouts. He almost didn't hold that Steeler. the refs should have let that one go!
