I used to think Tomlin was a good coach. I no longer think that. Yeah yeah yeah, we've been to two superbowls, but perhaps that's due to the talent on the team and we got there despite Tomlin's poor coaching.

He refused to fire BA when it was badly needed and got overruled by the Rooney's.
We've become an undisciplined team under him, which was never the case with Cowher.
His clock management skills are beyond terrible.
He has allowed our Oline and DB problems to continue year after year. It's his job to fix these issues, not let them continue for 5 years.
He has allowed Lebeau to run an unsuccessful scheme for years now. He even acknowledged he wasn't happy with the defence last year despite it's paper ranking

The list goes on and on. The problem isn't that we have these issues, it's that we've had them for years and there's no light at the end of the tunnel anymore. As Cowhers players have moved on and been replaced with Tomlin's players, we're getting worse and worse. I can't help but wonder what this team will look like in 5 years.

It's not just this one loss either, it's the way we constantly lose or just barely win. It's the same problems, every single game, and it's been that way for years now. While I don't want Tomlin fired, I do want Lebeau fired, but I'm not convinced Tomlin has the balls to do what's needed.

I don't think Tomlin lasts 5 years. I think he'll get fired in that time frame and I think we're going to continue to have these same problems every year until he is relieved of his duties.

I know I'll get blasted, but if/when he does get fired, I'll search and hopefully find this thread. The Rooney's will not put up with this garbage for too many more years.

I don't think the Rooney's will put up the money to buy him out of his contract.

Your post didn't come up properly so I didn't quote it, but that dirt on the field is the same as the green turf. It's not going to increase the likelihood of injury.

We don't get rid of good coaches. I don't think Tomlin is a good coach, and I am predicting he gets fired within the next 5 years unless something drastically changes with this team.

I sort of brought this up two weeks ago and got criticized heavily.

My point still stands, but it seems this Raider loss is the loss that will start "the conversation."

The Steelers got old and slow and the guys they have drafted the last 4-5 years to take over aren't up to snuff. It'll take a couple of years to get it right.

I'm not sure I buy that. Great coaches can bring in UDFA and they seem to start and produce right away. Belichek never has a weakness on his team for more than 1 year. Last year his defence was arguably the worst in the history of the league. This year, his defence is one of the best in the league. I just don't buy that it's the players. I think a lot of it is the coaching, mostly Lebeau. Tomlin just doesn't have the balls to make big moves. He's a status quo type of guy.

At first, I thought that the Rooney's stole a good hire. But it just seems like Tomlin is a status quo, do not go against the grain-type guy. I do not know if he is just pleasing the bosses. But it certainly appears that the fire is not in him or the team. Clearly, he deserves some praise for adapting to the 3-4 defense instead of the Tampa-2. LeBeau needs to go. This is the worse defense that I have seen for many years from a Steeler team. We got rid of the OC, now we need a new DC and if that does not work, then we will need a new HC and GM. The GM is also to blame of our lack of depth and for holding on to the old guys too long. The team stopped playing when Heyward-Bey got hurt and then the team seemed really unmotivated. The part that bothers me is the lack of discipline that we portray ever week. We are playing the Raiders, and we got more penalties than they did. The lack of discipline and motivation is on the HC and coaching staff and that is why I do not think that Tomlin will last. Especially when Arizona is 3-0 and have traveled to Foxboro and won. We have a long time to find out for our next opponent is Philly and I certainly hope that we are ready for that game coming off the bye and playing at home. Our OL will be tested and Philly beat the Ravens and currently, it looks like we will ball to 1-3. I hope that I am wrong.

I agree to a point...I know he needs to learn how to manage the clock better and he does need to micro manage a lot more.....He needs to force his will on the Team....

IMO I think he gives his OC'S to much space,I think Coach T is a very smart Football guy,it seems like the time is drawing near for him to start stepping on toes, heck even stomping feet, and even chopping off heads if need be.....

That time was 3 years ago. When you're a very young, first time coach, I get being hesitant, especially when your defensive coordinator is a legend, but he's been around long enough now that he needs to take control of the ship and steer it where he wants it to go. Enough with the DC deciding to play 10 yards off the line, that isn't working and hasn't worked for a long time. Tomlin needs to step in and tell Lebeau to stop that garbage. He also needs to start benching defensive players that aren't getting the job done. If you continue to get beat, you sit on the bench. Even if the next guy is just as bad, at least he has the excuse of being a backup. If our DB's are going to get beat on every play, I'd rather send a message to the starters by benching their asses and let the back ups get beat.

I would like to see...when the game is on the line...in the final minutes...Tomlin calling a time out to get in our guys faces...and doing some finger pointing and stomping...to rally the troops.

Good idea. Oh wait... We don't have any timeouts left because Tomlin can't manage the clock....

Well IF we got rid of Tomlin and IF we followed the Steeler tradition of mostly staying in house and IF YOU had to choose who would you take? My guess is Todd Haley would be the Rooney's choice. Am I crazy for this? If we are all wanting a guy that's gonna get in faces I think you would have to say Haley. I'm not saying I'm in favor of doing this. I'm just saying that Haley is WAY more in the vain of Bill Cowher.

First, the OLINE - we have drafted 2 1st rounders and 2 second rounders in recent years. We are against the cap constantly and can't bring in top FA types. The line is hurt. We are missing Decastro and were even playing Beachum today.

On Defense, the 2 best players are missing (TP and JH). I really think JH makes a big difference up front both against thee run and pass. And Troy wouldbe in the head of Palmer for sure - he always has been. We could have used a Troy flying over the top sack at the goalline today.

I didn't notice, but was McLendon in alot today?

I agree we need some better DBs, but Troy makes the entire unit better. Also I did see them up alot on the LOS and not way off today on several occasions.

Something is missing, but let's get our 2 best guys back on Defense before we go overboard.

Well said. All this criticism of the talent on our defense when the two best players on the D have not been playing, and their backups are not experienced, might give the D a little bit of a break. Not an excuse, but a break.

I wonder if Mundy will get suspended for the hit on Heyward-bey? He DID get put in the hospital. Maybe if Tomlin won't bench that loser the league will.
