Lebeau sucks, Tomlin sucks, Defense is slow and old. At least Ben and Miller showed up to play today, not so much anyone else.

2008 When we won the Super bowl vs Arizona (although that game exposed the flaws we had with our other players, as well as show cased our play makers) is the only season I can remember saying. "WOW this is a historic defense". Specifically the game we lost to the Giants, the O turned the ball over in the redzone like 2 or 3 times and each time we held to a field goal, Including a goal line stand.

We really need to move to a 4-3, get rid of Hampton and try to generate some sort of pressure on the QB. If they can do this with Lebeau then fine. If not its time to move on. Agaisnt the patriots last year they played different schemes throughout the game and played great. Example being William Gay, I've seen him playing on the Cardinals and he actually makes plays for them. Lebeaus schemes Im sure are great but if you don't have the players you can't force them into it. Arians tried to do that on offense. Our team in general is just a heap of bad coaching decisions

Maybe when Lebeau finally decides to hang it up ,he can find work as a salesman at a living room furniture store.........he sure knows a hell of a lot about cushions.

I hate the "playing down to competition" BS. Our D lost this game, plain and simple. There is NO WAY we should score 31 against them (or most teams for that matter) and lose.

Absolutely agree with you - but I was just trying to point out that it was a TEAM loss. The defense sucked in the 2nd half - and the offense made VERY costly mistakes.

I'm reserving judgement on the defense until after I see what happens when Harrison and Polamalu return. Things could turn around - but it's going to get real ugly if those two don't ignite something.

I don't want to hear **** about the offense, the offense is fine, defense is going to sink this team if they get it together real quick.

Mundy is the worst safety in the NFL. 28 should be playing in his place. Why not blitz with a corner once in a while, instead of running the same defense over and over. Tomlin, why not go to Lebeau and say, What the h-ll is going on around here!!!!!

I'm not anywhere near giving up on this team but there are many things that make me wonder about where we go from here. It seems the only bright spot on this team is Ben and the receiving corps. We have a ton of concerns on defense. Cam and Ziggy are first round picks and they aren't making an impact. Sometimes I wonder what Lake is teaching these DB's, if they don't get away with grabbing and hooking it's a catch and run. The penalties are just maddening. I just hope we can get healthy and get re focused on playing mistake free ball.

I think it's time we started doing some soul searching about Polamalu and Harrison. Quite frankly, the nagging injuries to Polamalu are getting annoying. I realize that his style of play may lend itself to more injuries, but if you can't stay healthy and you can't stay on the field you're of no use to this defense. Aaron Smith is gone, James Farrior is gone so Troy's and Harrison's leadership is sorely needed ON THE FIELD. It's very frustrating that they can't stay on the field. Troy's injuries are especially bothersome. I commented in an earlier thread that it could be a conditioning issue with Troy and got blasted for it with people saying that it's his style of play that causes him to be injured a lot. But the last two nagging injuries that have kept him off the field for the better part of the last 3 years were an achilles injury and now a calf injury. These sound more like conditioning issues to me. Time to find Troy's and Harrion's replacements and it's obvious at this point that their replacements are not currently on the team!

    The Kordell Stewart Era

This team and Tomlin remind me of the Kordell & Cowher bromance. Being Buds instead of Coach & Player. Tomlin should have been screaming at his defenses pathetic play. Instead he stands there with his arms crossed with that stupid surprised look on his face. Face it my Steeler Faithful 4rd and 1 on your own 35 you punt. If you don't it can mean 1 of 2 things: 1. Your a complete moron of a coach or 2. Your defense sucks. I think both 1 and 2 are correct.

Not to nitpick, but if #2 is true and why you go for it, then #1 cant be true.

Troys achilles injury occurred after he intercepted and returned it for a TD doing a superman act for the last 10 yards to reach the endzone. I called it then that that injury was going to stick with him for a long time, I've known people who have suffered that kind of injury.

I said last year that I was willing to sacrafice being a top 5 defense as long as our offensive line was improved and the offense improved along with it. But watching the defense the last 3 weeks, I'm in utter disbelief at how terrible they seem. I know Harrison and Troy were both out but cmon. With no pressue on the QB they are SHREDDING us. It was evident in Denver the first week. It didn't happen last week because Stinkchez could be the worst QB in the league. I said we would be 11-5 this year but I thought we'd be, if not 3-0 at least 2-1, by the bye. This is reminding me of the year we missed the playoffs when we lost to Cleveland, Raiders and KC the worst teams in the league at the time. The only way I see us making the playoffs would be to get to 10-6 and somehow sweep Cincy and the Ravens.

Hopefully I'm eating crow at the end of the season!

Seen quite a few of these types of games over the past few years (like, every time we play Oakland) and the thing that scares me the most is when I'm watching it happen, I'm not even surprised or angry anymore..... just sort of numb....

Of course, you've got to hand SOMETHING to Carson Palmer as he did thread a few of those passes in there, and yet, that will come as little solace when the next team Oakland plays shuts their anemic offense down completely for 4 quarters.....

Right now, it would appear "The Standard is Sub-Standard." I used to hate the bye week.....now, it's one of the most welcome weeks of the year. Get healthy, please!

The OL still can't run block....Our guys must secure the ball....Our clock awareness still is horrid....Our situtional Football needs serious situational help....We still need speed and awareness on D,,,I don't care if they have a clue about assignments....We need players who can read a play and react or who at least have enough skills to complete their holly grail assignments....

On the bright side Ben got a lot of stats....First game all year we didn't really try to run and it gave the Raiders just enough extra time to win the game...Call me Old ,Call me Old Fashioned.call me what you will ,but to go right back to the pass after going for it and being in control of the clock was criminal....If you must go pass,,,,call a screen, call a swing pass, call a shovel pass, call a quick slant, max protect and run a 2 man route...Anything besides a play that has a high sack probability....A pick 6 would have been better at least we still control the clock that way.....
