I think Derwin Gray was always considered an OG at the pro level....but who was the 2nd?

I like Hennessy and would like the pick as well, just think an OT capable guy brings more value.

Pouncey is likely playing 2 more years minimum if his time is tied to Bens as he says it is. So Hennessy will be on the bench barring injury for 2 seasons while Peart would be a starter next season and can play both tackle positions and saw one profile that said he has played all along the line but not sure he did that at UCONN. Elvis could probably shed some light on that.

Hennessy is also scheme limited, suited for zone blocking and not gap blocking. They ran mostly zone when Bell was here.

I am not real sure about Grey don't know much about him. I know Mac is high on him and that he was a 7th rounder so it is hard to expect much. He is listed on our depth chart as an OT. As for the other that is Chucks who we drafted in the 3rd, right. So right now our starters are Feiler and AV who I get are both only signed through this year. Then we have Banner, Chucks and Grey with Banner being signed like AV and Feiler for this year. I do see the need I am not doubting that at all I just see the need at c/og as a bigger one.

We have Wis and DD that is it and what happens if and when MP goes down and Wis moves over to C? We all talked about how bad this oline was last year and OG is lacking right now imo. While yeah there is value in Peart but is there that much more based on need and talent available? I have read some very good stuff on all these guys and my deciding factor is our depth.

Yes Peart is a littler higher ranked player than Hen and Lewis but so is Charles. Also if OT is a need look who is still left on the board. Charles, Peart, Durant and Adeniji are all good ones I have read about. Like I said not against the pick just don't feel the talent is that much greater than the other two and the need imo is less. jmo

So we know that for sure, we know MP will be playing....we know Ben will be playing? Both of these guys have been beat up and are at the end of great careers. MP missed 3 games last year who steps in, Wis ok that is our starting OG who steps in there? We are replacing 2 positions due to 1 injury and have no depth at one.

Now as for Hen being on the bench because he is position/scheme limited I will have to put that to someone smarter than me(like you have pointed out to me before), however while we want to point out Hen's short comings Peart has the same but why do we over look them?

    Weaknesses
    • Play strength is not up to par
    • Unable to bench-press defenders off his frame
    • Flexible but needs more discipline in keeping pad level lower
    • Gets over-extended and beaten inside in run game
    • Doesn't show finishing demeanor or toughness on tape
    • Hands are limp, lazy and miss proper landing spots too often
    • Disjointed movement in working from first to second block
    • Must learn to throw a punch with better urgency and violence
    • Feet occasionally stall when mirroring at the top of the rush
    • Poor hand placement and redirect power doom him when his edge is challenged
He has the physical traits that put him in position to get better and better as a pro, but after four years as a collegiate starter, teams may wonder whether he has the necessary demeanor and grit at the point of attack to stick around as a pro.

Every player has strengths and weakness and so many talking heads most of the time have no clue right? Let's face it you just like disagreeing with me....:smiley1:

Quality interior linemen come along in the late rounds and as undrafted free agents all the time. You can’t teach a guy to be 6’7”, 300+ lbs. and athletic with nimble feet and have over 36” arms. When that guy is already a respectable player and by all accounts a good guy, well, that’s a great pick for long run value at the end of the 3rd round. Peart has the rare physical potential to be an elite left tackle in a couple of years, and be serviceable while he learns.

Two years ago, and while Chuks has a good tool set, it’s not nearly what Peart has to work with athletically. He has more of a right tackle skill set IMO.

I casted my vote before you :lolol:

The value isn’t there to warrant Hennessy on the rocks over Peart.

And yes, Pounce and Ben are probably playing two more years.

    Still thinking...

It's a battle of BPA vs Need vs who is most productive over next 2 years.

Going make it a toss up and vote for brooks. Higher rated than the guy I suggested. If you’re looking for a tackle that’s a Robert Brooks from Louisiana Lafayette worth looking at. Higher rated than Perth.

Do you mean Robert Hunt? Is that your vote or Jordyn Brooks?

I interpreted his vote as Jordan Brooks, stating that he was making it a toss up between Brooks and Peart.

    I'll vote Peart.

Good value here. OG experience with NFL OT potential. May not do anything for 2 years but a good pick for the future.
