You must round out the equation to include those who claimed flight bans from China were xenophobic/racist and that attending NYC's Chinese New Years events celebrating the Year of the Rat were to be encouraged. The only correct answer is that no one was prepared and virtually everyone involved at every level and outlet screwed up. Only thing that matter is what was learned through an abundance of errors, failures and misstatements as we collectively try and move forward? I hope someone much smarter than myself can figure it out.

Great movie. Loved the acting, especially the Captain Quint character.

Classic! That story Quint tells about the Indianapolis going down is one of the best movie scenes ever.

That really has no bearing on the fact that this has been handled about as poorly as it could possibly be and all of us are suffering for it, many with their lives. There is still no national order to shelter in place, that’s insane.

I/We do but there is such a lack of testing nobody knows who's a symptomatic? Gov Wolfe
has just put out yesterday that he would like all Pennsylvanians that have to go out to wear some
sort of mask or scarf or bandana.

You left out important words like potential. This is how myths spread across the internet like wildfire.

Actually Amityville is the place in LI that the movie Amityville Horror is based on. Amity Island is the fictitious island in Jaws. Definitely one of the best movies ever though....

Go watch the UPMC press conference on this. It is 42 minutes long and of course the doctors go into great detail about how and why this new vaccine works. The doctors at the Pittsburgh School of Medicine don't think that this vaccine is a "myth".

Plenty of mistakes. Plenty of blame to go around. Unpreparedness going back years. You cant pin the blame on any one person. A lot of people had a hand in getting us to where we are now. China is the one to blame ,not so much whoever you want to say contributed to the state we are in today. Although I will say some of the people that are talking about putting a committee together to investigate how this was handled could be using their time much more wisely especially when they too have played a major role in dropping the ball on this pandemic. Maybe they should try to focus their blame on China and what they personally could of and can be doing instead. Now is not the time....

One lab is digging into its freezer to thaw out the archived sperm of SARS-susceptible mice. Another is anesthetizing ferrets so they don’t sneeze when the new coronavirus is squirted into their nostrils. Yet others are racing to infect macaques, marmosets, and African green monkeys.

Those animals could prove critical for understanding how Covid-19 works — and for concocting vaccines and treatments to stop its sweep. Every day, it seems another company announces an attempt to make its own virus-fighting vials. But to test an experimental formulation, scientists can’t just jump from Petri dishes into people. They need to try it in critters first, to check that the stuff is safe and effective.

Now, researchers are rushing to figure out which creatures work best, a task that could take months. “We’re at the ‘Uh oh, it’s complicated’ stage,” said Lisa Gralinski, a microbiologist and assistant professor of epidemiology who studies coronaviruses at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Good lord can you actually read? I didn’t call it a myth. I said this is how myths start ...

if you actually pay attention they say things like potential and they’re hoping to get approval for clinical trials. They never say they’ve found the vaccine.

Well, playing politics with a pandemic is about as juvenile as it gets but getting rid of the pandemic office in 2018 was a huge blunder of epic proportions, and still there is no leadership from this administration.....

There is some promising leads being followed up. The thing with the vaccine though is you still need clinical trials, thats why it will take until next year, no way to speed that up.

There is another promising lead though and that is the use of Hydroxychloroquine to treat patients with existing symptoms, an important distinction, there is nothing to signal that it prevents Covid at this time. But some patients that have received Hydroxychloroquine after showing symptoms have shown improvement, some dramatically as told to me by my nurse friend.

Way early to draw any conclusions, studies just getting underway should have some answers by Summer.

The Dr's at the WHO in January said Coronavirus wasn't transmittable between humans. Drs also said you shouldn't wear a mask earlier. Believe what you want.
