Any chance either Conner or Snell move to FB next year?

I think Snell will be able to take over Nix's position on special teams.

    Nix's Lifetime Numbers by season.
    upload_2020-2-17_23-0-22.png

His entire 5 year career he has 4 rushing attempts and 12 receptions.

We save 1 million by cutting him.

Or, do we target a FB in this years draft? Maybe bring in a HEALTHY free agent?

Conner gets hurt taken a ****. You want him to be a lead blocker for another running back? Come on.

Roise Nix for certain. If not him, find a UDFA. Fullbacks are not very difficult to find overall.

Playmaking ones like Kyle Juszczyk or Anthony Sherman?! Different story.

No. It will be Nix unless he can't go. If not, like AQL said, it's easy to find a blocking FB. We need to evaluate our key offensive positions with a real QB in the game.

I hope we draft one. Not as easy as most think to find a good one. I'd have to say Samuels has more chance of it then either Conner or snell.

I think Ben should move to full back

It wouldn't surprise me if we just eliminate the fullback position. If Ben is healthy we will probably go with 3 WR's, 1 TE and 1 back.

Am I right in saying Samuels played some full back in college? Not sure he has the physicality for it in the pros though.

I do think Conner would benefit a lot from having a good full back leading for him. Hopefully Nix can contribute next season

Conner is not a good blocker. That doesn’t make for much of a fullback.

Steelers never use a FB anymore. I don't see them changing Ben's offense. Also don't think any new backs are on the team next year.
    Conner
    Snell
    Samuels
Nix if he isn't still hurt.
Wyte ,needs a good preseason, I think he makes it if they carry 5.

And Snell or Conner? Or Samuels? Negative. If Nix can't go you get another one.

No use for a fullback, although I do see the Steelers adding
to rb mix with a FA or draft selection.

He has gotten better at pass protection though

I still think Mason would have benefited greatly this last year if we had run more Play Action passes out of the standard Pro Set.

Play action passes are a sure fire-way to slowdown a pass rush.

We were able to run effectively out of the Shot Gun with Bell, but I think both Conner and Snell would be more effective in a traditional run formation with a FB.

Can't be a dedicated FB - must cross position say at FB/TE. Was watching some old games and liked how they used David Johnson there for a while - not hugely successful but not a bad idea either and assuming this player has good hands, lends itself to the occasional swing pass option.

Idk, maybe when Mason learns to move his feet so the lineman aren't stepping on them we will see more of him under center.

He's already taken nearly a whole season as laid back. Could move to new position of jump back unless hurt with broke back. Then the team would be set back.

they need to bring in a fb to push nix...… nix is very athletic and highly talented, but is hurt more often then he's not... the best ability is still availability

I don't know, I guess I'm not following the Rosie NIx is always injured narrative. Yes last season he got hurt early, but he played in all 16 games for 2018, 2017 and 10 games in 2016 and 15 games in 2015. Other than last year, the dude was pretty durable for the position he plays.

He will be 27 or 28 by the time the next season rolls around, but I still think he is the man until some youngster unseats him. And I don't think that it is next year. With all the moving pieces of this new fast paced NFL, blocking is a lost art and Nix has value there imo.
