Im guessing this was bothering him all year... he should have just shut it down early... no reason to risk it on a lost season.

The season wasn't lost until the final game.

Maybe everyone should have surgery this off season and get it out of the way.

Not a big deal. He will be fine for camp. More concerned about Pouncy.

I suspect he knew he needed surgery well before the season ended and he was just pushing it.

There is s difference between playing hurt and playing injured. If he was injured he shouldn't have risked further harm.

Glad they did this early. We need DD. Pouncey on the other hand could of should be replaced. He's had a lot of his legs injured over the years and it's starting to show. Foster is too big and father time has shown up. A lot of games played with these two. The interior needs replenished.

Ben and Pouncey are a matched set. We won't get rid of only one of them. They are going to retire together.

Time to send pouncey on his way, he's over priced for his lack of production this year, there are some centers in this draft to be had in the later rounds like this kid:

Keith Ismael, C/G, San Diego State
    Height: 6-3. Weight: 310.
    Projected 40 Time: 5.22.
    Projected Round (2020): 3-5.
1/13/20: Ismael was a versatile interior blocker for San Diego State, playing left guard, center and right guard over his collegiate career. For the NFL, his best fit could come at center, but he could start out his career battling for a roster spot as a backup guard/center.

Or this guy Jake Hansen, C, Oregon
    1. Height: 6-5. Weight: 302.
      Projected 40 Time: 4.99.
      Projected Round (2020): 2-4.
1/13/20: Hansen had his hands full with Derrick Brown and the Auburn defensive line in the 2019 season opener. Overall, Hansen was solid for Oregon and blocked very well in the weeks afterward. Team sources said they were impressed with him. Hansen is a good technician with size and lots of experience. He could compete to play quickly in the NFL.

8/17/19: Hansen is a solid and dependable interior blocker for Oregon, but he has room for improvement. He could stand to improve his strength for the NFL, but he is reliable inside blocker who made 34 straight starts before a targeting penalty ended the streak. Hansen shouldn't go unnoticed in 2019, because he's the center for star quarterback Justin Herbert. Some NFL team sources have Hansen as having the potential to be a pick in the top half of the 2020 NFL Draft.

It's time, but it's not realistic. If Ben is qb, Pouncey will be center. It shouldn't be, but while Tomlin is here, it's Ben's call.

Alongside everything else, the sheer amount of botched snaps was alarming this year.
