As much as I like JC (Pitt Man) we will have to bring in another RB.
JC is not dependable, can't stay out of training room.

The best ability is availability and he’s got a 0 in that department

They need to plan without Conner at this point, get another back in the draft or trade a 2021 pick for an experienced guy coming to the end of his rookie deal like Arizona did with Drake.

They have Conner on a cheap rookie deal for one more year, if they can get something out of him during that time then great, and they can extend him on a very team friendly deal. If not then you let him go.

availability is your best ability... part of being a good running back is being able to CARRY THE LOAD. He cant.

Take a dive or run out of bounds it's the only way this kid stays healthy. Fighting for xtra yards is killing him.

I think I once heard an NFL RB has a short career. Conner is super short.

The playcalling generally hasn’t helped the running game, either. The Chargers game and the second Browns game, there was actually some creativity involved with misdirections and clever ball fakes and stuff like that. The kind of thing you should do with a QB with limited skills.

However, the rest of the time, Fichner’s playcalling was right out of the 1980s. Running play up the middle. Running play off tackle. No suggestion of anything reminiscent of the kind of modern offensive football that you see more innovative teams like the Ravens and Chiefs adopting.

That stuff can work with Ben as your QB, although I would argue that the lack of game planning really has hurt them even with Ben under center. But with jobbers like Hodges and Rudolph, it is a lot to ask from your running game to get yards when everyone in the building knows what you are going to do.

Thought we weren’t going to hear from you until next season?

Was that fake news like SDOT’s boycott?

The RB from Ohio State if he's there in the 2nd round. This team needs a healthy-Conner, Bell-like back to help out Ben or whoever the QB is.

Good kid, overcame the odds, but as said he can't stay healthy. He does add a spark, but flames out with multiple injuries. The tell tale sign will be in the offseason and what they do in the draft.

I agree whole heartedly. I was just disagreeing with the word average.

If you have one foot in a bucket of ice water and another in a bucket of hot water, you aren’t feeling “ average”.

I apologize if this was discussed but do you think its his style of running or is what cancer/chemo did to his body?

Wasnt he a bell cow @ Pitt with the violent style of running?

I’m going with option number 3, I think he just doesn’t have the DNA to not get hurt playing NFL football. Like Vance McDonald. Like me. :smiley1:

JK Dobbins... RB. Can he last to mid 2nd round? Probably not. We are doomed.

I don't know if RB is a priority with all those we have on board right now. If our OL would be half as good for them as they were for Bell, we'd take some pressure off of our QB and grind out 1st downs and the clock. If you want a good running game you need a good line to open lanes to run through. Can't have one without the other. So, who do you draft 1st? Add a passing threat as well helps too. We see how Bell is doing in NY and he is not even close to what he did here. My opinion is to let Conner go and get line help starting at center and LT.
