That isn't the point for those of us saying this. The point is the we want a chance to play. Period. And we want a team that doesn't give up because the odds are stacked against them. Sure, from a fan standpoint, it may be unlikely that they'd get far in the playoffs, but a competitive spirit doesn't give up just because that's a likely scenario.

There is a way the Steelers get in with a 4 way 8-8 tie, but it's highly unlike due to a single game. Here's what would have to happen (and the Steelers would go to NE for the Wild Card game - which gives away what won't happen).

Steelers and Titans lose, Raiders and Colts win PLUS all

KC wins tonight at Chicago, next week vs LA Chargers (both are likely)
GB wins next week at Detroit (likely)
Minn wins next week vs Chicago (possible)
Miami wins at New England (nearly impossible)

    In this case

    1. Baltimore
    2. KC
    3. New England
    4. Houston
    5. Buffalo
    6. Pittsburgh

Nice find. I had not seen this posted anywhere. It’s interesting how those nfc games play an impact on the afc playoffs.

Miami best cincinnati today so it’s possible they beat NE

The Miami Pats game isn’t happening so the Steelers are gonna need the Raiders to lose in Denver which I think will happen just Incase the Steelers and Titans lose and the Colts win and their is the 3 way tie at 8-8. Bill O Brien said he is gonna play to win and play his starters against the Titans. So much entirely rests on that game between Houston and Tennessee whether the Steelers win or lose because if they beat the Ravens and the Titans lose they are in and it won’t matter what the Colts and Raiders do. If they lose to the Ravens they still need the Titans to lose to Houston to keep the 8-8 tiebreaker scenario alive. So the bottom line is for either of the two scenarios the Steelers have to make the playoffs whether they win or lose in Baltimore the Titans MUST lose for both to have a chance to happen and get the Steelers in the playoffs.

I think the Steelers have a good chance of getting in if that happens because I feel pretty good about the colts beating the Jags who have mailed it in for the year and the Raiders losing a tough close division game on the road to the Broncos. It’s gonna be a lot of fun keeping an eye on all 4 of these games to see how this all plays out because nothing is guaranteed and anything is possible.

Playoffs? IF the Steelers make the playoffs, they’re one and done anyway. So end the season. Fire some assistants. Get guys healthy, and start planning for 2020.

Just think of the irony if the Steelers make the playoffs at 8-8 and then lose their first playoff game. That means that the Steelers will finish 8-9 and give Tomlin his first losing season during a year they made the playoffs.

Titans on strength of victory. Our two wins against a one win bengals team doesn't go a long way and the Titans took down the Chiefs.
