I'll start by introducing myself. New to this board. Used to read the official boards on steelers dot com before they vanished. Was happy to recognize some old names on this site, as discussion on the old boards was always very knowledgeable. Looking forward to posting here!

Now to the Steelers related stuff. Great game yesterday, felt like they were in control all game, even when they were down. Particularly impressed with the blocking of Baron Batch. He's done an outstanding job in blitz pickup these last two game (and preseason). CUrious as to your thoughts on his future as a RB this season and beyond. Especially when Mendenhall returns, will Batch still be active on gameday? And is he in line for some additional work (i.e. more carries)?

    Hello - and welcome.

I anticipate Byron Batch getting stronger and better the more he works his way into the offense. He barely got his pro career started before suffering a season-ending injury. With an ACL, it takes time to come back for MOST backs. That combined with his lack of experience shows that he's special as they are using him in during the games.

Welcome! Good to see someone else from my end of the world! :good:

It will be interesting to see what happens when Mendenhall comes back. I think it could be tough to keep 4 RBs and 1 FB. However, I think Baron Batch has proved himself in blitz pickup and that the coaches may value him on the field on 3rd down.

Based on his pre-season, I just don't think he warrants any carries. To me, he lacks the vision of Dwyer and the tough running of Redman. I love him as a blocker and I like his ability to convert a 3rd down in the flat, but that's probably as far as it goes for right now.
