At least they finally played pissed off, and I think the refs caused that.

To much running room to my liking unless our O is the one doing it of course...Also as Snack said in another thread Mundy is a better SS than he is a FS....I am still not sure I like him being out there ,but I am sure I prefer him at SS if he must be out there....

We played well enough to back up Woodley's statement but not good enough to dominate. I'll take the improvement now we need to keep it going and keep getting better.

Kenan Lewis, needs some discipline for the after 5yards no contact rule hes all over the reciever and thats going to cost us big yards down the stretch.

They just showed that the Pass defense is adequate to get by with non-elite QB's. Manning would have shredded them again. Sanchez....Child Please!

On the bright side, we're now actually playing tighter coverage for the most part. Sure, anyone will get beat from time to time, but it was nice to see our boys actually challenging the receivers for a change.

Then again, pass rush is still lackluster. Rush defense looked a bit better, but still has a long way to go to return to its former glory.

We can also be thankful that after that first drive, Sanchez reverted to the below average QB we all know so well.

My thoughts exactly, just a little more fleshed out than I posted. I'm thinking that every team knows to not drop back into those 5-7 step drops against them, so they're cutting the drops shallower and making the OLB's have to take those extra steps to catch the QB. I'd love to see some pressure up the middle like they used to bring with Lloyd and Greene. Hell even when Kendrell Bell was in his rookie season. Damn I wish he'd have turned out better.

Agreed with both post here. We need pressure on the quarterback from up the middle and tighter coverage on the outside. The run defense is not stout at the point of attack. Casey is a shell of his former self and McClendon is really seeing the difference between preseason and regular season.

For a team that put up 48 points on the Bils (One pick 6 and punt return for TD) so 34 points and we held them to 10 I was happy. But the 1st quarter and half the 2nd quarter was awful. Some turnovers would be nice and the tackling needs to improve many times they had guys stopped only to give up a few more yards. Many times today they got killed on pentalties, some bogus calls.

Once agian the secondary was saved by bad QB play and dropped passes but in their defense the front 7 isn't getting to the QB. The run D is pitiful, Ziggy got blown up and I know I'm on him all the time but he gets pushed off the ball almost every snap. That is a big reason we can't get to the QB too, the o-lines from other teams have no problem holding the block on Ziggy, if you notice it is the old man Keisel that draws the double teams.

I think our corners should get some credit here too. They were putting a lot of pressure on the WR's and being physical with them. Something that was obviously lacking in our first game.

The D line did start to impose their will a bit as the game wore on. During the first quarter a few times I did a slowed down replay and it was really obvious how Hampton, Hood and Keisel were getting blown back and in one direction or another. It was sickening, but at some point they were able to dig in and hold their ground for the most part. Seemed to help at least get some pressure on Sanchez to get the ball out and since the DBs were pressing at the line the receivers didn't have time to get open and be ready for the quick pass that had to come.
Only 2 sacks, no INTs or FFs but I think the D stepped up with some attitude. I just hope they can do it on the road.
They really need to get this upcoming road win and head into the bye 2-1 with a road win under the belt.

The defense didnt lose the game but they played better over all than they did in week one: Woodley had a better game but the D line isnt very impressive, we cant get any pressure with a 4 man rush and in this pass happy league it's a must to stop good passing offenses with 4 rush and 7 back package. 10 penalties doesnt help the cause at all and that has to stop, and Taylor never gets it that you cant mug receivers in the route, he will cost us a game down the road from his stupidity sooner or later. They held the jets to 10 points but I think a lot of that was with help from the jets offense, it was a good home win, but lets see how they play on the road in Oakland sunday, if they cant win on the road then there is little chance of having a winning season....

I'm not going to stress too much about our D at the moment. Harrison and Troy were both out this week. Harrison and Clark were out last week. I'm not sure, but I truly believe that Clark not playing in Denver hurts us more than almost anyone. You basically cannot get pressure on Manning unless someone makes a mistake. When Troy would come to the line, Manning would change the play, get 5/6 yards and go to the next.

THAT is the kind of thing we want to see from Ben...take the small chunks, it can and will frustrate a D that they cannot get off the field.

This team is doing fine when you consider the guys who weren't dressed yesterday and their ability to play this game.

No Harrison, No Troy, No DeCastro, No Sylvester, No Spence, and No Mendenhall. Yes, Spence and Sylvester are probably only special teamers, but the other 4....are starters. 2 former DPY winners, a rookie who is considered "special" by almost every scout, and a top 20 player at his position. No matter how much...the standard is the standard....not having those guys impacts things, especially our pass coverage.
