Rob King is going to be doing play by play.

The Steelers' HC continuity is exceeded only by their play by play radio announcer continuity. Fleming was also there forever dating back to my pre-Civil War childhood (if I could only remember back that far). :thumbs up:

At least it isn't Joe Block reminding listeners/viewers of Captain Obvious nuances like 3 or 4 times every time Starling Marte comes to bat what a threat he is to run fast to first base.

We can only hope that he screws up the down, the distance and which team committed the penalty, like Hilgrove does.

I listened live as Jack Fleming called the immaculate reception. The game was blacked out on TV in the Pittsburgh area.

Same here...in my room at home on a transistor radio. Sixteen at the time. Remember it like yesterday.

I remember watching it on some hotel room TV someplace in Ohio that we drove to, because we couldn't get it on local Pgh TV

I was 16 too. I thought for sure the Steelers had lost when the Snake ran for about a 35 yard TD run for the Raiders with about 30 seconds left.

    No lie.

Joe Blockhead may be the worst announcer not named Chip Carey that I've ever heard. Some of the stuff Joe says makes me wonder if he knows anything about the game at all.

I have listened to him call a game. He is pretty good. Old Billy is a warrior
I hope he has a successful surgery and is back for playoffs. YES I SAID PLAYOFFS.

Yes Bill as slipped a bit in recent years, but some guys have earned that right to not be perfect. All to soon the time will come where he steps down, I can wait and smile through those few muffed calls.

I didn’t know about this until today. I went to the gym early than went out shopping so I could only watch very limited amount and had to listen to the rest. And I was like wait, what the heck is this. Hope he gets well. Broadcasts don’t sound the same without him.
