Special annoucement today made by his mother that Devin Bush was selected as a Pro Bowl Alternate in 2020. Many congrats now should go his way! A good rookie season without question.

Currently, Devin Bush leads all Steelers linebackers in tackles and is second among all NFL Rookie linebackers in tackles; trailing Cole Holcomb from the Washington Redskins. In addition, Devin Bush leads all NFL Rookies in turnovers with 6 to his credit in the form of two INTs and 4 Fumble Recoveries.

I did have my personal doubts about him before the start of the 2019 Draft even though that, given Pittsburgh's recent draft selections, Devin Bush was likely to be selected. After the combine though, he quickly changed my mind. Ever since then, he has been one of my favorite players overall on the team; second only to Minkah.

Here is hoping to continued improvement in the future!! He has all the tools in his toolbox to do so and carry on the tradition of Steelers Linebackers! Many more Pro Bowls to come I am sure.

Go get 'em Devin!! Show them no mercy! :herewego:

    Go Steelers!!! :steelflag:

Pretty awesome recognition for a rookie linebacker. Thoroughly impressed by him and the decisions made to draft him

The good thing is he has his first season under his belt and is still only 21 years old. His career is off to one heck of a start.

He may of slowed down but he’s still producing.
Got to realize rookies have never played in so many games
Throw in pre season you have 19 games to date by the end of this weekend
An nfl season is almost two college seasons.
Bush is a good one glad he’s a Steeler only going to get better

Actually his play against the run has been pretty good lately. He's starting to do what Shazier did in the running game except I think he tackles a little better despite being asmaller.

He was the right pick. I had my doubts before the season started but it's easy to see his talent. Smart move to go get him.

Ever since the Indy game his snap counts have fallen. I'm sure it has to do with defensive packages. Although he did have an up tick in the Buffalo game.

Glad we drafted Bu$h. Chances are good we'll see a substantial improvement from year 1 to year 2. This kid will only get better.

Beat me to it. He’s playing the run pretty well now. Much better than when he had his mid season missed tackle slump.

or they were trying to protect against him hitting the rookie wall?? It will be interesting to see his snap counts for the last two games.

I hated the pick, but he is winning me over. His athleticism is putting him in position to rack up the tackles, once he adds some technique to his game with taking on and slipping blocks etc, he will be all the better. Nice job rook!

He needs to work with a DB coach during the offseason to get his technique down for when he has to cover downfield.

That's one of the reasons they drafted him. Shazier was able to do it with speed and had a little more length. (EDIT: Even with Shazier they couldn't cover the TE) He's going to need to work on it so that they can cover that middle of the field.

Play like Derrick Brooks did in the Tampa 2.

Coincidentally enough, Derrick Brooks indirectly tipped Mike Tomlin about him. When exactly is unknown but Derrick Brooks is the Godfather of Devin Bush Jr. Not just Derrick Brooks but he also has had Ray Lewis teach him some things as Ray and Devin Bush Sr. were very good friends in the NFL.

That is quite the level of experience to call from; not including his father doubly so and the same. Within the same vein, keep in mind Tomlin was the Defensive Backs Coach of those 2002 Bucs. Tomlin knows a thing or two about freakish athletic linebackers.

Not a fan of the Steelers cover 2 anyway. They get carved up traditionally.

We need him to really step up these next two games.
He needs coached up, still gets lost in the shuffle/scrum
and his pass defensive skills are a liability. If he works hard
he could become a difference maker.

Not bad for a rookie 1st round pick. He will only get better just like Watt. Glad we won't have to wait 4 years to see some production.

    Hey bigbenhotness.

Your Quote: "He’s been quiet lately but overall solid". I agree. However, the lead poster (AQL) in this thread pointed out his stats so far this season. I must admit, very impressive. He will only get better with time and like most rookies they are not accustom to the rigorous NFL schedule when compared to the college one. He may be tiring out a bit. However, no time for that now though as we still are "Significant" as I say and we need him to find his second wind; if in fact it is an issue. Great job though Devin. Congratulations for all of your contributions to the team and your accolades this season. Keep it up!
