At Colbert's age I don't see why he would want to start over with a new team.

Would not be surprised personally. More so on Kevin Colbert as his contract is year to year after a report a couple of months ago. Omar Kahn is a bit of an interesting story though as I have not heard much from his end.

Colbert will remain here until he either retires or is retired. Teams have been trying to poach Kahn for a while now. Probably comes down to if he wants to be a gm sooner or later.

Agreed...Why would Colbert make a lateral move ( less than lateral imo ) to go to a team that's probably worse than what he has...

As far as Khan...More money, Power, Say so...I could see him getting poached

Colberts contract is up after this season. He would probably get on with his life's work. I'm sure he has enough funds to walk away.

Khan should be considered as his replacement. But if the Panthers want him I feel he would entertain the offer.

Is Khan a talent evaluator, or a tricky-dicky accountant? My understanding was that he was the business side of the general managers office.

I absolutely can see Colbert moving on...
I can also see Kahn moving on.... Money talks and Tepper is loaded !!!!

I cannot see Kahn do a GM job....... he’s never been a talent evaluator .......

My guess is Colbert is going to retire based on is current contract and Khan will take over.

Khan has been interviewed a couple times although I'm not sure he was last off season. I remember reading articles about him having his hands in more than just the financials here.

One of the best with the cap and the finance side.

Basically if you have $100 and Omar has $100 he has more. He is that good.

He's an accountant he would have no business being a GM. Which is why nobody has hired him yet and probably never will.

Every team now has a cap specialist, Khan is nothing special.

Khan hasn't been interviewed for a position for many years now. There once was a time but nobody has been trying to poach him lately.

The article mentions Colbert has a home in Carolina, so that may be a draw to him if he decides on a lateral move.

How would you know. He already helps out with the scouting.

Because every team is cap compliant, it doesn't take a wizard. And before the Carolina rumor no team was after him in the last 5 years at least.

What does that have to do with knowing he isn't something special evaluating talent? You have no idea if he would be a good GM or not.

Because he has no background in football. Granted he's been with the Steelers this long but only as a numbers guy. I don't know if he does much with scouting but even still. Would you hire a dentist to be your proctologist because he works in the same office as one? Lol.

Some guys just have this in their blood. The challenge with a new location may be enough to intrigue one or both. It may not, it really comes down to how much interest they have to continue doing this, here or there. I can see KC staying a year or 2 and retiring, I can also see someone embracing a new challenge at a fresh place. I know nothing of Tepper, will he be hands off, or is he like other owners who like to play fantasy football with their team?

Dude, lol you really didn't just say that :lolol:

Football has been his life since 1997. He started as a scouting intern for the Saints. He's more than a capologist, the best in the league by the way. He's been involved with the Steelers scouting for years and very involved in the draft process.

To my knowledge he was only an accountant. But I did Wikipedia him and didn't know he had a sports management degree. So I stand corrected. But who said he's the best in the league? Maybe ten years ago. Every team has a guy now who can manage the cap.

Its pretty well known that he is one of the best if not the best at managing the cap.

As far as GM capabilities, my only point is we don't know what kind of GM he would make. My hunch is he has a Butler type agreement with them and will take over for Colbert.

Anyone who believes there is a better and more prestigious workplace in sports than the Steelers is an idiot. Nobody leaves the Steelers without being fired.
