A shifting of gears towards a topic that should be very positive for Steeler Nation this season end, Troy, Faneca and Hines Ward made the top 25 cut as just announced. Troy should be a no-brainer but it's very stiff competition for Ward and Faneca to make it.

Here's another link to a decent article prior to today's official announcement projecting who would make the top 20 and those outsiders who deserve some consideration such as LC Greenwood, Hines Ward, Donnie Shell, Alan Faneca and Andy Russell.

If Troy is not the NFL sucks more then I thought. I'm not sure about Hines. I think between Ward and Faneca, Faneca has the better chance.

It would be a big surprise if Troy doesn't get in. Donnie Shell should have been in a long time ago, he was not only a ferocious tackler but also had over 50 interceptions.

Without a doubt he gets in. If he does not, you already know one Canadian loving American Gridiron Football Fan who will voice his opinion until the end of days. Way too many reasons not for him to get in.

For some unknown reason I expect him not to. Even though he certainly should.

If Ed Reed was a 1st ballot. Troy Polamalu better be.

Really wish they could make up. Since Troy retired, it’s not been a close relationship with the organization.

I’m not shocked Troy didn’t seem like a guy who would have a hard time letting go of football.

He will. Reed and Polamalu were guaranteed first ballots. They were just waiting for their retirement. Reed was a ball hawk but Troy couldn't be put in just one position. Human highlight reel. And, it is disrespectful to not have LC already in ... even as a senior

LC should have been in there already.
Donnie shell was Ed Reed before Ed Reed was a twinkle in his daddy's eye.

What hurt's the guys from the 70's Steeler team is almost the entire defense should be in there.

Troy should be a first ballot HOF, he changed what the position could be, a true game changer and the most clutch player I have ever seen.

I remember a series where 1st down Troy stuffs a run loss of 1 , 2nd down Troy breaks up a pass 40 yds down field, they try a wide screen and Troy fly's in from somewhere and chops the receivers legs out from under him loss of 5.

I'll take those plays over Ed Reed playing center field catching over thrown balls any day.

Polamalu should be an easy choice to go in immediately.

I never thought of Shell being like Reed. I know he intercepted quite a few passes for the era in which he played, but he struck me as more physical, but not quite as athletic as Reed.

I doubt Shell or Greenwood will get in. There is this perception that there are too many guys from those teams in the Hall of Fame already. It isn't fair to them, but that's the reality they face.

Donnie Shell and LC Greenwood are often mentioned as players that have been overlooked because there were already "too many" Steelers from the 70s in the HOF but I think Andy Russell is every bit as deserving as the other 2. He was always overshadowed by Ham and Lambert in our LB group but he should've been inducted long ago.

LC and shell should have been in a long time ago. I almost feel like they kept them out just because that team already had so many greats already in. It's a travesty and injustice those two have had to wait as long as they have.

Andy Russell told a great story about the team's first meeting with Chuck Noll after he became coach. Noll said "I've been watching film of the previous year's games and I've discovered why this team is losing, none of you are any good and I'll be getting rid of most of you". Russell, Rocky Bleier, Sam Davis and Ray Mansfield were about the only ones from that team that made it to the Superbowl years.
