As much as people talk about Troys decline I was listening to a sound bite from the matchup of Jets verses Steelers and they had some video of Manning sitting on the bench from last weeks Denver game and he was talking about how Polamaulu is all over the place. So Peyton was definitely aware of him and respected the fact he is still a huge factor for the defense

:lolol: Actually I kind of had a feeling we'd be on the same side with this one. I think the biggest thing is he is always hurt, even when it's not listed, he's probably got some nagging injury, he admits to hiding injuries. Here it is at the very start of the season, hurt. We'll see how he bounces back this weekend and with Clark on the field. Assuming he even plays.[/quote:1vvjoyy7]

    Troy out vs. Jets

No Harrison or Troy for Sunday!!

It seems that James Harrison and Troy Polamalu will not play for the Steelers Sunday, according to a report out of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Gerry Dulac.

Lets hope for long sustaining clock eating drives that result in 7 points for four quarters.

    What is Troy's injury?

    Wonderful. Another potentially nagging injury.

At one time in his career possibly the best closer,
I have EVER seen, was very disruptive. I am afraid that father time
has caught up with Troy. The Steelers need to get back into the (lab)
as Coach Cliche calls it. And see how we may best use his talents. The OC's
around the league have caught up and passed the Steelers in neutralizing his talent.
We need to explore ways to make him and others more impactful.

Extremely frustrating! This has seemed to be an annual occurrence for the last several seasons. Troy always seems to have some sort of "nagging" injury which hampers him every year. When was the last time he was healthy for an entire season?

I have a theory and want to get others' input. Troy has probably been the best athlete and most dynamic playmaker on the field since he was old enough to play football. Many times players like that rely more on pure athletic ability and less on hard work and coditioning in the off-season. OTAs are a good example. Most of the players are here but Troy is working with his trainer in CA most of the time. Do you think Troy is someone that doesn't get the off-season work and conditioning that he needs to stay on top of his game, especially as he gets older, and just tries to rely on his pure athletic ability which is diminishing with time?

No. I think it's his wreckless abandon style of play that causes him to be more prone to injuries and as he is getting older those injuries happen easier.

If you think Troy isn't working hard in the off season, you're crazy. The injuries are due to his style of play.

Great point Diamond. I'm not a Colts fan but I enjoyed watching him change the complexity of the game. Just being on the field made the entire offense run differently. The same goes with Troy very unusual and dominate talent. The fan in me wants Troy to play forever, now i hope he can be healthy for this year. I'll think about next year during this offseason.

Shannon Sharpe was just commenting on Troy's extra weight he seems to be carrying these days.

I agree. I think Troy is more active than we see, on-screen. And I'm quite sure teams play away from him. With Clark back, Troy can force himself into the play even if teams try to go away from him.
