This seems ridiculous. I mean I was surprised it didn’t draw a flag at the time but is the league in the habit of fining players for this?

Oh it was definitely taunting but I didn't know the NFL was in the habit of going around fining players that weren't flagged for it. It's not like a PF, freaking taunting.

    NFL is s joke.

Beckham was taunting Tomlin multiple times.
Where was the penalty for that?
    Or the fine?

    NFL is a joke.
So they go back and watch films so they can take money from their Players for non physical acts.
How does the Player’s Union accept that?

The most popular fishing hole when I was growing up in the Burgh had several posted signs saying "Fine For Fishing". I wonder if we were misinterpreting something? :hmm:

Unsportsmanlike Conduct I am afraid. I am even more impressed the officiating did not catch that. That said, I would imagine that such a penalty has to become more flagrant in order to draw the penalty.

I realize I am in the minority but I consider all the childish antics performed by today's players in the form of celebration to be unsportsmanlike!

A RB makes a first down in a game his team is losing terribly and he does the ball drop!

A DB is in the neighborhood of a dropped pass and he shakes his finger like "don't try that **** on me"!

So you're saying this also applies to "Fine for Littering, "Fine for speeding", "Fine for Trespassing"? :lolol:

NFL office in a 'code red' state of alert, still trying to recover from the drama of Thursday night.

Yeah I guess you're right. There are fines all the time for PF stuff that doesn't get flagged on the field. But not sure about taunting after the fact. The NFL is bipolar when it comes to this stuff. They act like they give a crap about player safety, but dont suspend Earl Thomas? I dont get it.

They fine players for everything. I'm surprised the NFLPA tolerates it

Don't worry. They split up the money at the end of the season and give it to the Kraft/Gooddell/Jones foundation for Charitable contributions. It's all legit.;+);+);+) They promise it will keep the hot dog prices below $12 and beer prices under 30.

NFL Players union is weak, not like in baseball.

We'll see how they fare in the next CBA.

The money collected from fines goes to the Players Foundation or Players assoc. or whatever it's called. It's used to help former players. I remember reading that anyway, maybe it's changed.

This isn't where I read it, but this breaks it down pretty good.

    https://operations.nfl.com/football-ops/nfl-rules-enforcement/fines-appeals/

The fines collected do not go to the NFL, but instead go to programs for former players. The Players Association and the league have agreed to donate fine money through the NFL Foundation to the NFL Player Care Foundation and the Gene Upshaw Players Association’s Players Assistance Trust.

The Player Care Foundation, an independent organization dedicated to helping retired players improve their quality of life, provides programs and assistance with medical, emotional, financial, social and community issues.

The Gene Upshaw Players Assistance Trust assists former players who are facing financial hardship due to unforeseen crisis, unaffordable medical situations and helps those who wish to go back to school to finish their undergraduate degrees.

Since 2009, about $4 million a year has been used to assist former players.

4 million dollars in fines per year is ridiculous. If it's that much of a problem then start fining the owners and Coaches more often for not keeping their players under better control.

Same officiating that didn't throw the flag on Earl Thomas until Rudolph was knocked out for 5 minutes. Oh crap, guess we better toss a flag out there....

You know, I am all for commemorating something as significant as any major profession celebrating 100 years of existence. That said, I do have to question myself a bit on that. I am wondering if the Centennial Opener between Green Bay and Chicago was a precusor of what was to come. Plenty of blown calls in that game too.

The officiating REALLY is acting like it is the 1950s with some of these missed calls!! :@
