They held the Rams offense to 3 points, and held Cooper Kupp to zero catches :herewego!:. The Rams also were 1/14 on 3rd down, and 0/2 on 4th down. Fitzpatrick had a fumble return for a TD, to go with his game winning int, Haden also had a int. They ended the game with 4 sacks, and 4 turnovers, this is also the eighth straight game the Steelers have won the turnover battle.

    Yep!

This defense will have to be the catalyst for us for the remainder of the season. The Offense cannot seem to get it going during large parts of the game. For that matter, Randy cannot seem to get out of his own way.

That 1/14 on 3rd down stat is what jumped out at me. It’s so refreshing from years past.

Have we ever had a better defense than what we are seeing now?

This is the best defense I've seen in a long time.

Butler deserves a lot of credit.

The 76 defense was probably the best D the Steelers ever had for one season, especially the last 9 games. That was an incredible stretch.

Taking the radio team at their word (cannot remember who gave the stat), but this D has not given up 100 yards to a receiver or RB this year. nearly did tonight, but that is spectacular team effort.

I been saying on here for awhile and back when this team was 1-4 and losing a lot of these close games at the end that eventually things would begin to turn for this team and they would start finding a way to win these close games and that’s exactly what has happened these last 2-3 weeks.

There will never be another defense ever that can top that.

The 85 Bears and 2000 ravens (I think) are often praised as the best D's single season D's in the Sb era (and of course they won SB's). The 76 Steelers effort was cut short, lost both Rocky and Franco in the playoffs, and it was just the Raiders year. But game for game regular season they were simply incredible.

Slow down. Our D in 2008 was far better and it's not even close. That's the most recent example, but there's lots more.

That was the best defensive game in years. Props to the players and Butler. I'll admit I undersold them. The Rams are a legit offense, and they shut them down.

The Rams are not a particularly good offence. Doesn't take away from what our D did because the Rams do have a couple playmakers, but that offence hasn't been very good this year. I figured it would be a low scoring game.

We have to keep it up if we're going to sniff the playoffs though. Baltimore is showing no signs of slowing down

Maybe this defense is really coming into its own over the past 6 or 7 games. In today's game I saw contributions from everyone on the defense, there were some mistakes but over all a fantastic effort.
Dam I wish Tuitt was healthy that would take it up a notch he was off to a great start before the injury.

I think Watt is having an amazing season and his play us being a bit overshadowed by Minkah right now. Imo Watt is not getting his just due. He’s the best player on this team right now.

I have to laugh at some of these posts. Either you are too young to remember the defenses of the 70’s and Bill Cowher’s best years or you did a lot of drugs .

Are we even in the top 10 right now? There were plenty of seasons were we ranked in the top 5 in every major measure for defensive dominance. We seem to be creating turnovers but I have little confidence vs the best offenses right now. Some of Cowher’s teams would shut anyone down... The boys of the 70’s were insanely good.

Right now we are slowing down bad offenses. When we shut down Brady lets talk.

Ed Bouchette wrote an article before the season started about the Steelers D returning to the glory days.

Good call by Ed, this D is legit.

This thread has nothing to do with the offensive co-ordinator. You have a real obsession going. It maybe time to seek professional help

It actually does. More so than you believe. Mason alluded to it in his Press Conference that this defense cannot continue this pace of incredible play indefinitely.

At some point, the offense HAS to help the defense. How do they do that?! Sustain drives to keep the defense rested.
